Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Hanks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Hunter! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Craig Hanks! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Hunter. Hanks does a little dance to reset his feet. A nice leg kick lands there from Hanks. Hanks moves into range and connects with a jab. Hanks misses with a series of wild punches.
Hanks looks to land a body kick but Hunter moved away. Hunter has a takedown stuffed. Hunter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hanks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hunter fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hanks scores with a body shot.
Hanks delivers a nice body kick. Hanks fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hunter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hanks but Hanks pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hunter shoots and misses and Hanks counters with a slapping leg kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hunter. Hunter is breathing heavily.

Hunter avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hanks connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hunter momentarily.
Jay Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice body kick from Hanks. Hanks pivots, looking for a leg kick but Hunter is out of range and Hanks settles back down. Craig Hanks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hanks connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Hanks chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Hanks rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hunter moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hanks throws out a powerful jab. Hunter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hanks counters with an inside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice shot lands for Hanks. Hunter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hanks as he jumps to the side. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Hunter. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Hunter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hanks manages to avoid it. Hanks lands with a thumping leg kick.
Nice takedown defense from Hanks. No joy for Hunter on that attempt. Hanks does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Hanks with a body punch. A glancing blow. Hunter takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A jab from Hanks misses. Hunter with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hanks to score with a decent uppercut. Hunter looks to land a left hand but Hanks moved out of range nicely. Hunter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hanks lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Hunter moves out of range as Hanks throws a body kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter shoots in and drives through. Hanks sprawls well. The fighters circle momentarily. Hanks darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Hanks lands a lovely overhand right. Hanks lands with a straight right. Hunter didn't see that one coming. Good shot there by Hunter. Excellent takedown into side control there by Hunter. Hanks is looking for a sweep. Hanks can't do much from the bottom here. Hanks avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Hunter. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hunter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Who's going to make the next move?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hanks regains half guard, as Hunter was trying to land strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hunter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hanks's head. Hunter throwing shots but Hanks is blocking nicely. Hanks tries to get to full guard but Hunter has control of the leg. Hanks regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hunter. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hanks keeping full guard, as Hunter tries to pass. Hanks looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A right-left combo lands from Hanks. Hunter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him. A combination from Hanks does no damage. Hanks throws a chopping leg kick but Hunter manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Hunter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hanks on the wrong end of a nice jab. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hunter closes the distance and clinches up with Hanks, looking for a takedown. Hunter pushes Hanks against the cage but Hanks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hanks thuds a left hand into Hunter's body. Hunter has his takedown stuffed and Hanks counters with a lovely straight right hand! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hanks makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Hanks lands with a cross. Hanks throws a series of strikes that have Hunter backpedaling.
