Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Craig Hanks! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Norman Osborn! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanks throws out a leg kick but Osborn moves out of range and Hanks only half commits. Hanks throws a series of punches but Osborn avoids them all with ease. Hanks lands with an uppercut that bounces Osborn off the cage and back into range. Hanks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Osborn shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hanks as he avoids it easily. Hanks pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Osborn misses with a hook. Osborn has a takedown stuffed. Hanks throws a shot from downtown. Osborn moves away and avoids it. Hanks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Osborn. Hanks with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Hanks looks to land a body kick but Osborn moved away. A swing and a miss from Hanks. Osborn decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Osborn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hanks manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Osborn has Hanks in his guard. Hanks wants to stand but Osborn is controlling his posture from full guard. Hanks looking to sit in guard and control but Osborn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanks utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Osborn throws an elbow that misses. Hanks uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Osborn's guard. Nice move by Hanks! Osborn working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Osborn pulls Hanks in close to his closed guard and prevents Hanks from doing any damage or advancing position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Norman Osborn. Hanks just misses with a punch to the body.

A close round but Norman Osborn will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Hanks stuns Osborn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Osborn misses with a takedown and Hanks counters with a straight punch to the midsection. A solid leg kick lands there for Hanks.

Horrible takedown by Osborn or perhaps it was just good defense by Hanks which made him look bad. Hanks moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Hanks lands a leg kick that knocks Osborn off balance momentarily.

Craig Hanks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Osborn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Craig Hanks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Norman Osborn. Osborn ducks under a wild hook from Hanks. Nice body kick from Hanks. Hanks lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Hanks looks to score with a jab to the body but Osborn is just out of range. No luck with that takedown attempt from Osborn. Hanks works the jab nicely.

Hanks throws a leg kick which misses Osborn's front leg but catches the back leg as Osborn tries to avoid it. Craig Hanks is winning the standup battle so far. Osborn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Osborn doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hanks counters with a flying knee. Nice. Osborn uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hanks. Hanks scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. No luck with that takedown attempt from Osborn. Good exchange - Osborn coming out on top.

Hanks throws a big shot that misses. Hanks misses with a body kick. Osborn on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Hanks works Osborn's body with a nice hook. Nice sprawl there from Hanks as Osborn shoots in. Osborn throws a body punch but Hanks moves out of range. A leg kick checked by Osborn.

Hanks tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Osborn shoots in for a double leg but Hanks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hanks throws a low kick but Osborn moves out of range easily. Hanks leaves Osborn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hanks just misses with a punch to the body.

He's got his arms around Hanks's waist but Hanks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Osborn off to one side. Hanks on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Hanks throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Hanks feints and then cracks Osborn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Osborn down. Osborn shoots and misses and Hanks counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Osborn is lucky that one didn't land flush. Osborn avoids the body shot from Hanks.
Hanks throws a sloppy head kick and Osborn moves out of range easily. Osborn steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Hanks. That one must have hurt. Osborn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hanks keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

so Osborn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Osborn missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Osborn pushes down on Hanks's leg and manages to get into half guard. Osborn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Osborn throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hanks avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Osborn. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Osborn working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Hanks wants to improve his position but Osborn is controlling well.
Osborn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hanks defends it well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Osborn is looking to advance position but Hanks won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Craig Hanks. I think Hanks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
