PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Capone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Zombo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Capone comes into the arena with SomeNights blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Capone tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Zombo swivels and escapes.

Capone dives in and scores a takedown into Zombo's guard.
Capone throws a strike but Zombo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Zombo trying to control but Capone is working from the bottom.
Zombo stops Capone from standing up.
Zombo wanted to stand there but Capone had control of the position.
Capone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zombo won't allow Capone to get back to his feet.

Capone has his feet on Zombo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Capone shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Capone throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Capone working over Zombo with some ground and pound. Zombo looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Zombo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Capone stalling away here and it's allowed Zombo to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Capone throws an elbow that misses. Zombo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Capone's guard. Nice move by Zombo!

Capone pushes Zombo off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Capone fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Al Capone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Capone looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Al Capone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zombo lands a lovely overhand right.
Zombo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Capone shoots in looking for a takedown but Zombo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Capone's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Zombo lands with a right hand.
Zombo fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Zombo thuds his right hand into Capone's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Zombo scores with a jab to the body.
Capone shoots in looking for a takedown. Zombo tries to sprawl out of it but Capone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zombo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Zombo lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Capone at a distance.

Capone fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zombo avoids it really well and circles away.
Capone is breathing heavily.
Capone has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Zombo lands with an overhand left.
Zombo throws a one two combo.
A decent looking cross lands there for Zombo.

Capone is rocked!
Zombo cracks Capone with a hook to the temple - Capone is on wobbly legs here! Zombo swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Capone falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Zombo wins by TKO!
