Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mar Vell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Semenko!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Semenko as he jumps to the side.
Vell tests Semenko's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Semenko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Semenko connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vell's hands.
Semenko cracks the inside of Vell's front leg.
Semenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vell paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mar Vell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Semenko takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Vell throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Semenko lands with an overhand left.
Vell lands a jab to the nose.
It looks like Dave Semenko has been cut.

and Vell counters with a good, hard body kick but Semenko shrugs it off.
Semenko attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Semenko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vell manages to avoid it.

Jab, jab by Vell - just one landing.

Vell swats away the attempt to clinch by Semenko.
Semenko throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Vell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Semenko.
Vell looks to throw the jab but Semenko is out of range.
Vell throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Semenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Vell will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Semenko gets a clinch.
Vell working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
The referee calls for Vell to work.
Vell tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Semenko blocks a body shot from Vell.
Vell avoiding damage as Semenko throws knees to the body.
Vell lands a nice uppercut.

Semenko lands a good knee to the midsection. Vell won't want to take too many of those.

Vell lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Semenko.

Vell throws a punch but it's blocked by Semenko.

Vell lands with a left to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Vell fails to land.
Semenko creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Vell's defenses.
Semenko using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Vell has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Vell avoids a wild elbow strike from Semenko.
Vell swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Vell blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Vell.
Semenko throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Vell blocks it with crossed arms.

Vell misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Semenko blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Vell.
Semenko landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Vell lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Semenko is rocked!
Vell swings wildly with an uppercut but Semenko uses good head movement to avoid it.
Semenko is still on wobbly legs! Can Vell finish him?
Vell throws a head punch that misses.
Semenko pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Semenko seems to have recovered his senses.
Vell unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Semenko! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Vell is unloading with more strikes now! Semenko drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mar Vell!
Mar Vell decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
