Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bv Rasp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Smyth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smyth comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Painkiller - Pendulum feat. Freestylers kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bv Rasp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kris Smyth!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rasp misses with a kick to the body
and Smyth counters with a nice uppercut.
Smyth looks to score with a jab to the body but Rasp is just out of range.
Smyth misses with a head kick.
Smyth throws a push kick but Rasp slaps the foot to one side.
Smyth stuffs the takedown.
Smyth moves out of range of the body kick.
Rasp fails to land the takedown.
Rasp thuds a left hand into Smyth's body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smyth enables Rasp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smyth manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rasp pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smyth is keeping the position for now.

Rasp postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rasp throws a big right hand that misses.
Rasp wants to pass the guard but Smyth is keeping the position.
Rasp missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Smyth has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rasp just misses with a punch to the body.

Smyth steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rasp.
Smyth thows a body shot but no joy.
Rasp throws a lazy uppercut
and Smyth counters with a good, hard body kick but Rasp shrugs it off.
Rasp moves out of range as Smyth throws a body kick.
Smyth cracks Rasp with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Kris Smyth is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A punch combination from Rasp misses.

Rasp throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Smyth was covering up waiting for the punch and Rasp finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Smyth is adopting a defensive guard.

Rasp throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smyth works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Smyth looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rasp is one step ahead there.

Rasp stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smyth swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rasp won't allow Smyth to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Smyth misses with a kick to the body.
Rasp shoots in looking for a takedown. Smyth tries to sprawl out of it but Rasp keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smyth manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bv Rasp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rasp takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Smyth is looking to clinch but Rasp is avoiding it.
Rasp tries to clinch but Smyth moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smyth lands a glancing blow to the side of Rasp's head.
Rasp wants to clinch up but Smyth keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bv Rasp will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Smyth doesn't manage to clinch there - Rasp circles away.
Smyth misses the jab.
Rasp connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Smyth momentarily.
Rasp fails with the takedown
and Smyth makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Bv Rasp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rasp misses with a body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rasp is defended easily by Smyth.
Smyth throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rasp darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Rasp thows a huge punch but Smyth dodges it nicely.
Smyth regains full guard. Nicely done.
Rasp looking to sit in guard and control but Smyth gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rasp looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smyth trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Rasp manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Smyth is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rasp won't allow Smyth to pass to mount.

Rasp is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Smyth is tapping! Great win for Rasp!
