Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 11 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gugo Ograni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Gerous! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ograni lands a lovely overhand right. Gerous throws a head kick but Ograni moves out of range.
Ograni closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Gerous manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ograni's best efforts. Ograni is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Gerous looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Ograni is looking for a kimura but Gerous is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ograni to get the leverage. Ograni prevents Gerous from standing back up.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ograni wants to take a breather but Gerous is having none of it. Gerous is looking for a sweep. Ograni is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gerous is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gerous is kicking away at Ograni from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Ograni grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Gerous trying to push Ograni off... Gerous taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Gugo Ograni! In his post fight interview, Gugo Ograni gave a big smile as he said 'Enough is enough.
