Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Ring! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Niko The Monster! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ring swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The Monster tries to clinch up. Ring looks to land a combination but The Monster avoids it well. The Monster tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ring paws at him with a jab and circles away. The Monster tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ring swats him away and circles back towards the center. The Monster tries to clinch but Ring moves away and Ring counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
It looks like Niko The Monster has been cut. Ring misses with a left hand and The Monster counters with a three punch combo that has Ring backing up. Ring nods at The Monster to acknowledge the strikes. Ring throws a body punch but The Monster moves out of range. The Monster keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ring throws a lazy right hand but The Monster sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Ring looks to land a left hand but The Monster moved out of range nicely. Ring connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Ring circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ring tries to bum rush The Monster with a series of wild strikes but The Monster uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ring slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Josh Ring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ring lands a nice hook to The Monster's body. The Monster takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. The Monster moves out of range of the strikes. Ring throws a lazy uppercut
and The Monster counters with a three punch combo that has Ring backing up. Ring nods at The Monster to acknowledge the strikes. The Monster is looking to clinch but Ring is avoiding it.
The Monster tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ring swats him away and circles back towards the center. The Monster moves out of range of the strikes. The Monster moves out of range as Ring strikes. Ring swings and misses with a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ring connects with a looping right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The Monster moves into range and clinches up with Ring. Ring misses with the head strike.
The Monster misses with some punches.
Ring lands a right hand. Ring lands a body punch. The referee is keeping an eye on Ring - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
The Monster swings wildly with an uppercut but Ring uses good head movement to avoid it. Ring breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ring tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but The Monster was well out of range. Poor timing from Ring. The Monster fails in his attempt to clinch. Ring lands with a shot to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Monster wants to clinch up but Ring keeps it at a distance. The Monster keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ring scores with a hook to the body. The Monster takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Ring lands a jab-cross combination. Ring throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent The Monster stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. The Monster looks winded! Good exchange - Ring coming out on top. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ring connects with a jab. Ring misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ring thows a body shot but no joy. Nice shot by Ring.
That has opened up Niko The Monster's cut even more.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ring cracks The Monster with an open hand slap. Ring lands a lovely overhand right. A punch lands to the side of The Monster 's head but he takes it in his stride. The Monster swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The Monster tries to clinch but Ring is having none of it. A shot to the liver by Ring. Beautiful body shot. The Monster takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Ring swings for the body but The Monster moves out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ring lands with a right that hurts The Monster. The Monster looks to clinch but Ring throws a short knee that drops The Monster. This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Josh Ring! Josh Ring bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
