Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chauncey Silvestre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mullen comes into the arena with Country Boy Can Survive blaring out of the sound system. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
39 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Mullen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Chauncey Silvestre! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Mullen throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Mullen cracks the inside of Silvestre's front leg. Mullen throws a solid leg kick but Silvestre takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Mullen. Mullen throws out a loose jab but Silvestre uses good head movement to avoid it. Nice cross by Silvestre. Silvestre lands an overhand right. Mullen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Mullen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Mullen misses with an attempted mid kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mullen misses with a right hand and Silvestre counters with a shoot takedown. Mullen fights it but they end up in guard. Silvestre must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Silvestre throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Silvestre throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mullen works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mullen has an active guard here but Silvestre has managed to pass into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mullen gets full guard. Silvestre scoring with punches to the head and body. Silvestre trying to control but Mullen is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silvestre tries to free his leg and advance position but Mullen is retaining full guard. Silvestre landing with the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silvestre controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Mullen looking to control.
Mullen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Silvestre is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mullen looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mullen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silvestre. Chris Mullen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mullen avoids the head kick by Silvestre.
Mullen throws a nice looking combination but Silvestre bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Silvestre avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A nice inside leg kick there by Mullen. That's going to slow Silvestre down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silvestre shoots in looking for a takedown. Mullen tries to sprawl out of it but Silvestre keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mullen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Silvestre scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A slapping leg kick lands for Silvestre.
Silvestre takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Chris Mullen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mullen misses the shot to the body. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Mullen swings for the body but Silvestre moves out of range.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Silvestre. Mullen is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Silvestre off and has taken his back! Mullen is looking for the choke from the back position but Silvestre is controlling his hands well. Silvestre is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Chris Mullen will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Mullen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Mullen throws a leg kick but Silvestre moved away. Mullen misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Silvestre counters with a single leg into guard. Mullen didn't expect that. Mullen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Silvestre tries to hold on but Mullen pushes him away. Mullen gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! This has been an exciting period of action! Silvestre closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mullen's guard. Silvestre is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mullen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Silvestre won't allow Mullen to sweep him here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mullen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mullen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Silvestre trying to control but Mullen is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silvestre missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mullen trying to control the position.

Mullen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullen trying to pass the guard but Silvestre defending well. Silvestre trying to control here.
Mullen tries to stand and escape but Silvestre is controlling the position. Mullen is thwarting Silvestre's attempts to control the position. Mullen is looking to advance position but Silvestre won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mullen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Mullen misses with a body kick. Silvestre lands a nice looking body shot.
Silvestre shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mullen as he avoids it easily. Mullen throws a half hearted mid kick. Silvestre keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mullen throws out a leg kick but Silvestre moves out of range and Mullen only half commits. Mullen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mullen. Silvestre walks into a left hand. An inside leg kick lands from Silvestre. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Silvestre lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Mullen misses the jab. Mullen scores with a decent looking hook. Mullen stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Silvestre. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Mullen dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Mullen throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Mullen throws a leg kick but Silvestre sees it coming and moves out of range. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Silvestre checks a leg kick. Mullen looks to land a right hand but Silvestre moved out of range. Mullen has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mullen there as he acknowledges the shot. Silvestre shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mullen eats them both and turns towards Silvestre to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Mullen tries a head kick but it misses.
Silvestre slips a straight right by Mullen. A good leg kick by Silvestre. Silvestre shoots in for a double leg but Mullen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Mullen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silvestre manages to avoid it. Mullen is looking to chop away at Silvestre's legs. Silvestre with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Silvestre's corner calls for a 1-2. Silvestre obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Mullen misses the jab. Mullen with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mullen misses with a low kick.
Silvestre throws a leg kick but Mullen sees it coming and moves out of range. Silvestre connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

and Silvestre counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Silvestre scoring with punches to the head and body. Silvestre trying to control the position from guard on top but Mullen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Silvestre passes into half guard. Chauncey Silvestre has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silvestre is looking to take a break and control but Mullen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Silvestre is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Silvestre is pressing down on Mullen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mullen is holding on for now.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Chauncey Silvestre hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Mullen throws a body kick that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mullen is looking to slow Silvestre down with leg kicks. Mullen with a jab. Mullen throws a front kick that sends Silvestre stumbling back into the cage. Chris Mullen is winning the standup battle so far. Mullen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Silvestre ducks under a wild hook from Mullen. Silvestre pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silvestre stuns Mullen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Mullen throws a good cross that connects.
This has been an exciting period of action! Silvestre manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mullen on his heels. He'll look to pass Mullen's guard now, I'm sure. Silvestre takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mullen looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Chris Mullen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Silvestre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mullen has Silvestre pulled in close to control his posture.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Silvestre scores with a decent looking hook. Mullen thumps Silvestre with a low kick. Mullen scoring well with a low kick there.
Silvestre throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Silvestre will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Silvestre goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Mullen tries to land a front kick but Silvestre steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Mullen lands a jab. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Silvestre takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A good leg kick by Mullen. Mullen throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Mullen. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mullen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
