Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitsuhiro Ishida!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Gotti!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Gotti. Those never looked like landing.

Gotti lands a left and a right that send Ishida crashing to the mat, dazed. Gotti thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ishida changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gotti tries to avoid it but Ishida manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gotti to the ground. Gotti escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gotti lands with a right hand.

Gotti feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ishida sprawling to the canvas! Ishida rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gotti finish him?!


Ishida is rocked!
Gotti looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Oh Ishida is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ishida scores with a jab to the body.
Ishida is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ishida seems to have got his legs back now.
Ishida shoots in for a double leg but Gotti sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ishida dodges the punch combination from Gotti.
Gotti pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gotti misses with a head kick.
Jimmy Gotti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gotti scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Ishida shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gotti defends it nicely.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Ishida. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Gotti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ishida throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gotti's waist but Gotti gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ishida off to one side.
Ishida fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gotti avoids it really well and circles away.

Ishida gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gotti wants to control but Ishida is keeping busy.
Ishida throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Gotti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ishida is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gotti tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Gotti trying to control but Ishida postures up.
Ishida moves nicely into side control.
Ishida misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Gotti is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ishida asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Ishida throws an elbow but Gotti slips to the side and avoids it well.
Ishida working the head and body with strikes.
Gotti dodges the ground and pound from Ishida.
Ishida creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Ishida staying calm.
Ishida tries to advance to mount but Gotti denies him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Ishida uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gotti.
Gotti rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ishida moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gotti tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Some wild striking there from Gotti.
Gotti lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ishida will feel that in the morning.
Gotti jabs Ishida to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Gotti throws a nice looking combination but Ishida bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ishida fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gotti avoids it really well and circles away.
Ishida staying out of range there.
Jimmy Gotti seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Ishida is looking to clinch but Gotti is avoiding it.
Ishida walks into a stiff left hand from Gotti.
Gotti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ishida clinches.

Ishida has Gotti pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ishida pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gotti tumbling to the mat - Ishida dives into Gotti's guard.
Ishida is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We're going to have a standup here because Mitsuhiro Ishida wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ishida looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Gotti lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gotti.
Ishida shoots in but Gotti avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gotti throws a lazy right hand but Ishida sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ishida wants to clinch.
Gotti rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ishida moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

No joy there for Gotti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gotti lands with a slapping head kick.
Ishida shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gotti defends it nicely.

Jimmy Gotti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gotti has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jimmy Gotti decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
