Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fidel Bautista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie Maccarone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fidel Bautista! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Maccarone! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bautista tries to move into range but Maccarone moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Fidel Bautista has been cut. Bautista misses with a hook
and Maccarone finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Maccarone moves out of range of the strikes. Maccarone throws a front kick that sends Bautista stumbling back into the cage. Charlie Maccarone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bautista takes a kick to the side of the head. Bautista tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Maccarone was well out of range. Poor timing from Bautista. Maccarone lands with a nice body kick. Maccarone thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bautista if he has to take too many more of those.
Bautista is breathing heavily. Nice body kick from Maccarone. Maccarone misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maccarone keeps Bautista at a distance using the push kick. Maccarone scores with a kick to the body.
Nice body kick from Maccarone. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Maccarone cracks Bautista with an uppercut from hell and Bautista crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Maccarone's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Bautista is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Maccarone trying to control the position from guard on top but Bautista is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Oh Bautista is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Maccarone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Maccarone passes into half guard. Maccarone is working for a kimura but Bautista is defending it quite comfortably.
Bautista seems to have got his legs back now. Maccarone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bautista keeps working. Bautista might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bautista is looking to control Maccarone's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bautista avoid being mounted? Maccarone seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bautista does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Maccarone not doing much here.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Charlie Maccarone hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Maccarone looks for the body kick but Bautista saw that one coming. A solid leg kick lands there for Maccarone.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Maccarone - that will leave a mark!
That's three minutes gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Bautista. Maccarone thows a body shot but no joy. Maccarone cracks the inside of Bautista's front leg. That kick from Maccarone tenderised Bautista's leg. Bautista is trying to keep his angry face on. Crunch! Maccarone slams his shin into Bautista's torso. Maccarone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Maccarone feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bautistas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Maccarone feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bautista's calf.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Maccarone checks the leg kick. Maccarone scores with a jab to the head.
Bautista on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Maccarone. Maccarone obviously looking to wear him down.
Nice jab there from Bautista. Bautista throws a lazy uppercut
and Maccarone counters with a head kick from the bowels of hell that crumples Bautista! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Charlie Maccarone! Charlie Maccarone retains his light heavyweight title! Charlie Maccarone decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
