Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Williams!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arvydas Sabonis!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Atkins and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams looks to throw the jab but Sabonis is out of range.
Sabonis throws a nice outside leg kick.
Williams scores with a nice body kick.
A slapping body kick lands there for Williams.
Williams connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sabonis. Sabonis circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Williams uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sabonis.
Sabonis is looking to chop away at Williams's legs.
Williams takes one to the side of the head.
Williams scores with a jab to the body.
Williams swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Sabonis.
Sabonis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sabonis checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Williams throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Williams looks to land a right hand but Sabonis moved out of range.
Williams looks to throw the jab but Sabonis is out of range.
Williams moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sabonis throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Williams counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Williams misses with an attempted mid kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Williams.
Sabonis wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Williams looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Williams tries a low kick but Sabonis avoids it.
Sabonis tries to clinch up but Williams circles away and keeps his distance.
A solid leg kick lands there for Williams.
Sabonis looks to score with a jab to the body but Williams is just out of range.
Williams swings for the body but Sabonis moves out of range.
Sabonis tries to close the distance and clinch but Williams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sabonis lands a high kick!


It looks like Simon Williams has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sabonis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Williams avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Williams lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sabonis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Williams definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Sabonis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Sabonis looks winded!
Williams explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Williams thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Sabonis if he has to take too many more of those.
Williams jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Williams scores with a hook.
Williams lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Williams.
Sabonis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Williams.
Williams fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sabonis takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Sabonis wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Sabonis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Williams darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice body kick there by Williams.
Sabonis walks into a left hand.
Sabonis avoids a kick to the body.
Sabonis on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Williams connects with a single shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williams takes a swing at Sabonis's ribcage but misses.

Sabonis ducks straight into an uppercut from Williams and tumbles to the canvas! It’s a flash knockdown though - Sabonis manages to regain guard straight away.


Sabonis is rocked!
Williams gets to his feet and stands over Sabonis, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Sabonis felt that one! Williams unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Sabonis from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simon Williams!

During a confident post fight interview, Simon Williams thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
