PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Furious Urek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Indigo Starseed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urek's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Harlem Shake. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Furious Urek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Indigo Starseed!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urek goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A slapping body kick lands there for Urek.
Urek connects with a leg kick. Starseed looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Urek scores with a spinning back kick!
Starseed blocks a head kick by Urek.
Urek tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Starseed takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Starseed has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Starseed crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Urek - the referee stops the clock and Starseed gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Urek. Starseed manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters circle momentarily. Starseed darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Urek swings away with a leg kick that misses.
An inside leg kick lands from Urek.
Urek lets loose with a powerful body kick. Starseed will feel that in the morning.
Urek lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Urek goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Urek looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Urek looks to land a body kick but Starseed moved away.
Starseed shoots for a double leg takedown but Urek sprawls well. He's pushed Starseed's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Urek throws a sloppy head kick and Starseed moves out of range easily.

Starseed closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Urek quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Starseed seems to be working for a kimura but Urek defends the submission attempt.
Urek pushes Starseed off looking to stand but Starseed dives back in and keeps control.
Starseed controlling the pace.
Urek wants to improve his position but Starseed is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Starseed working over Urek with some ground and pound. Urek looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Starseed scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Starseed is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Urek is just riding it out for now. Starseed eventually gives up the hold.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Urek wants to get back to his feet.

Starseed works his way into full mount!

Starseed scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Urek?

Starseed looking to secure an arm triangle but Urek defends it well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Starseed dominating with strikes here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Starseed looking to secure an arm triangle but Urek defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Indigo Starseed will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Urek misses with a head kick.
Starseed shoots in but no luck this time.

Starseed decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Starseed is controlling the pace.
Starseed throwing shots but Urek is blocking nicely.
Starseed seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Urek taking some punishment here, with Starseed in his half guard.
Urek knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Starseed on the ground.
Starseed working over Urek with some ground and pound. Urek looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Urek on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Urek tries to get out of the position.

Starseed has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Urek is in real trouble here. Starseed gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Urek is tapping out! Starseed wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Indigo Starseed!
Indigo Starseed tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
Furious Urek spoke after the fight, saying 'Lucky I didn't hit you. This makes us even.'.
