Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanley shoots in looking for a takedown but Alvarez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stanley's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Stanley fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alvarez sprawls well initially but Stanley persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stanley wants to work for an arm triangle but Alvarez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Stanley is pressing down on Alvarez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alvarez is holding on for now.
Alvarez tries to get to full guard but Stanley has control of the leg.

Stanley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alvarez defends it well.
Stanley thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are battling for position here. Alvarez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Alvarez wants to hit a switch here but Stanley passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Alvarez there!

Stanley wants to control the action but instead Alvarez gets a body lock and reverses into Stanley's guard! Nice work!

Stanley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Alvarez defends it easily.

Stanley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alvarez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alvarez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Alvarez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

We've been hearing that Alvarez has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

A close round but Marvin Stanley will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Stanley closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stanley has hold of Alvarez's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Alvarez seems comfortable defending it but Stanley has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Alvarez is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Alvarez is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Stanley couldn't care less - he's delighted!
