PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Creel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caiaphas Caine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Caiaphas Caine was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caine takes a swing at Creel's ribcage but misses.
Creel slips under a jab.
Caine throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Creel fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Caine has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Caine scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Creel connects with a leg kick. Caine looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Creel misses with a kick to the body.
Creel moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Caine fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Creel to the ground. Caine is now in Creel's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Carl Creel wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Creel tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Caine is able to avoid easily.

Caine darts in looking for a takedown but Creel gets double underhooks and turns Caine into the cage.

Carl Creel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caiaphas Caine.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Caine tries to pull guard but Creel holds him up against the cage and eventually Caine drops back down to his feet.

Creel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
A nice left hand lands by Creel.
Caine drops down looking for an ankle pick but Creel pulls his leg out and moves away.

It looks like Caiaphas Caine has been cut.

Caine goes for a double leg but Creel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Creel continues to drive forward.
Creel lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Creel lands a right hand.
Nice body punch from Caine - that landed with a thud.
Caine misses with the head strike.
Creel lands with a light punch inside.

Caine successfully pulls guard.

Caine is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Creel seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Creel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Caine defends it well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Creel in particular looking to stall.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Caine gets back to full guard.
Creel wants to control from the top but Caine keeps moving.

Caine has his foot on Creel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Creel works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Caine throws a lazy right hand but Creel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Caine, as that shot connected.

Creel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Creel scores with a spinning back kick!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Creel throws an overhand right that lands on Caine's shoulder, as Caine tries to avoid the shot.

Creel feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Caine's calf.
Creel's corner calls for a 1-2. Creel obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Creel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Caine is breathing heavily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Caine crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Creel - the referee stops the clock and Caine gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Creel. Caine manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Caine has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Creel.
Caine takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That kick from Creel tenderised Caine's leg. Caine is trying to keep his angry face on.

Creel closes the distance and pushes Caine back into the cage.

Caiaphas Caine's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Caiaphas Caine's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Carl Creel!
Carl Creel retains his heavyweight title!
In his post fight interview, Carl Creel gave a big smile as he said 'Yawn - Counter takedown, counter takedown, counter takedown...Whooops I missed one. What happened? Where am I?'.
