PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josh Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Corsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corsi has chosen Womanizer - Britney Spears as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tim Corsi!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corsi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Roberts paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Corsi gets a takedown into half guard.
Roberts wants to control but Corsi passes into side.
Corsi wants to control but Roberts is keeping him busy.

Corsi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Roberts is trying to get back to his feet.
Roberts is looking for a sweep.
Roberts really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Roberts tries to escape but Corsi is in control.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Corsi has eaten all the pies!

Corsi stands up and beckons Roberts to his feet.
Roberts has his takedown stuffed

and Corsi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Corsi.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Roberts has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Corsi clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Roberts is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Corsi. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Roberts is trying to stick to Corsi's back but Corsi is turning into Roberts. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Roberts's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Corsi.

Corsi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Corsi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Corsi looks gassed!
Roberts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Corsi is one step ahead there.

Roberts has his foot on Corsi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Corsi works his way back into a safe position though.
Corsi wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Corsi working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roberts wants to stand but Corsi is controlling the position.
Corsi postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Corsi pushes Roberts up against the cage in a clinch.
Corsi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Roberts prevents Corsi from breaking the clinch.

Corsi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Corsi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roberts wants to pass the guard but Corsi is keeping the position.

Roberts drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Corsi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Roberts has Corsi in his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Corsi stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roberts tries to clinch but Corsi is having none of it.
Roberts shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Corsi as he avoids it easily.

Corsi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Roberts's guard.
Roberts keeping moving, preventing Corsi from controlling successfully.
Corsi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Corsi won't allow Roberts to sweep him here.

Roberts will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Roberts wants to improve his position but instead Corsi has moved into half guard.
Roberts is trying to get back to full guard.
Corsi stalling.
Corsi winds up and cracks Roberts with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Corsi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Roberts moves into the clinch successfully.
Roberts has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Corsi avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Corsi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Roberts.
Corsi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Roberts pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Corsi breaks the clinch.

Corsi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Corsi showed some decent athleticism there.
Roberts is trying to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Roberts makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Roberts is looking for a sweep. Corsi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Corsi decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Roberts wants to clinch but Corsi slips to the side

so Corsi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Roberts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Corsi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Roberts looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Corsi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Roberts tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Corsi decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Corsi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Roberts shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Corsi counters by moving into the clinch.

Roberts wants a takedown but no success here.
Corsi stops a takedown attempt from Roberts.
Roberts drops down looking for an ankle pick but Corsi pulls his leg out and moves away.
Roberts wants to clinch.
Corsi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
No luck for Corsi with that takedown attempt.

Roberts shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Corsi wants to control but Roberts is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Roberts is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Corsi pushes Roberts off and gets back to his feet.
Corsi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Roberts as he jumps to the side.
Roberts tries to clinch up but Corsi circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Corsi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Corsi wants to slow Roberts down by chopping away at his legs.

Roberts is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Roberts has an active guard here but Corsi has managed to pass into half guard.

Roberts moves into full guard.
Corsi sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Corsi slips a nice elbow through Roberts's hands, connecting with Roberts's forehead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Corsi is trying to control the action in half guard but Roberts is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Corsi uses his free foot to push down on Roberts's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Roberts.
Roberts is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Corsi controlling the position easily from mount.
Roberts working to try and regain half guard.

Corsi looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Corsi tries to control but Roberts wriggling away.
Tim Corsi has got the better of the ground game so far.
Roberts really wants to buck Corsi off and get back to his feet.
Corsi prevents Roberts from getting the reversal.
Roberts wants to try and get back to his feet.
Corsi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Roberts gets back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nice strikes from Corsi there.
Corsi is thwarting Roberts's attempts to control the position.
Roberts is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Corsi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Corsi's back!
Corsi rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Tim Corsi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Corsi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
