Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, George Wilson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vasiliy Shishkanov! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shishkanov swinging wildly here.
Shishkanov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wilson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Vasiliy Shishkanov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wilson throws a combination that misses and Shishkanov counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Wilson swings for the body but Shishkanov moves out of range.
Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shishkanov manages to avoid it. Wilson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Wilson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Vasiliy Shishkanov has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A left lands for Shishkanov. Shishkanov shoots in and bounces Wilson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Wilson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shishkanov wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson looking to control.
Wilson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Wilson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shishkanov. Wilson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wilson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Wilson pushes a forearm under Shishkanov's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Shishkanov is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
