PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikos Stalikas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Clack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nikos Stalikas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenny Clack!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clack slips under a jab from Stalikas.
Stalikas has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Skylab Vegas in the buildup to the fight.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stalikas is defended easily by Clack.
Clack throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stalikas uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Clack.

Clack shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Stalikas's guard.
Clack trying to control the position from guard on top but Stalikas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Clack is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Stalikas looking for a sweep. Not yet Stalikas, not yet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kenny Clack has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Stalikas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Stalikas trying to control from Clack's half guard. Clack has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Stalikas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stalikas looking to sit in guard and control but Clack gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stalikas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Clack.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Clack throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Clack is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Clack loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Stalikas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Nikos Stalikas wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stalikas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stalikas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clack to the mat! Clack manages to get full guard.
Clack managing to control the position.
Clack wants to sweep here but Stalikas controlling him for the moment.

Clack working for a triangle but Stalikas defends it easily.
Clack is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Clack looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Stalikas passes into side control.
Stalikas is looking to take a break and control but Clack is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stalikas controlling the position from side mount.
Stalikas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kenny Clack will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stalikas throws a series of punches but Clack moves out of range.
Stalikas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Clack moves away.
Stalikas shoots in and drives through. Clack sprawls well.
Clack scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.


It looks like Nikos Stalikas has been cut.

Stalikas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clack's guard.
Clack managing to control the position.
Stalikas makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stalikas wants to control from the top but Clack keeps moving.
Clack is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Clack is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stalikas has his hands clasped together but Clack extends and breaks Stalikas's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Clack.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kenny Clack!
After winning the bout, Kenny Clack thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
