Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Carney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drunken Hermit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carney's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, T.I. - Every Chance I get. Rodney Carney has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodney Carney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drunken Hermit! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carney closes the distance and lands a one-two. Carney scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Carney trying to mount his opponent but Hermit defends it. Hermit is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carney's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carney's back! Hermit looking for the RNC. Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Hermit.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hermit misses with an elbow to the head. Hermit missing with strikes from the back. Hermit is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Hermit working for a choke but Carney is defending well. Carney fending off the submission attempt from Hermit. Hermit is not going to allow Carney to sit and survive in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carney controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Even with his hooks in, Hermit manages to miss with strikes from the back. Carney defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hermit's arms. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hermit is trying to stick to Carney's back but Carney is turning into Hermit. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hermit's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Carney. Carney stands and throws Hermit's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carney working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Hermit is not content to let Carney control the position. Carney tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Carney connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Hermit some visible discomfort.
Carney is working Hermit over with some ground and pound from side control. Hermit tries to bench press Carney off him but Carney keeps the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hermit is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Hermit is not content to let Carney control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carney throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Hermit works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Carney is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Hermit looks like he's trying to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carney trying to mount his opponent but Hermit defends it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Drunken Hermit will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Carney connects with a jab. Hermit shoots in looking for a takedown. Carney tries to sprawl out of it but Hermit keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carney manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Carney catches Hermit with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Hermit is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carney sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hermit closes the distance and clinches up with Carney, looking for a takedown. Hermit pushes Carney against the cage but Carney circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rodney Carney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drunken Hermit. Hermit gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Carney wants to pass the guard but Hermit is keeping the position. Carney stopping the sweep attempt from Hermit. Carney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hermit swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carney lands a couple of decent looking shots. Carney working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hermit's head. Carney trying to move into half guard but instead Hermit has managed to sweep! Hermit scoring with punches to the head and body. Hermit must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Carney keeping moving, preventing Hermit from controlling successfully. Carney looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hermit avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hermit working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carney keeping moving, preventing Hermit from controlling successfully. Hermit is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Drunken Hermit has got the better of the ground game so far.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Drunken Hermit wasn't active enough on the ground. Carney pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Hermit back to the cage. Carney follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Rodney Carney is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hermit shoots in and drives through. Carney sprawls well. Carney scores with a jab to the body. Hermit shoots in looking for a takedown but Carney manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hermit's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Carney misses with a series of wild punches.
Hermit tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hermit somewhat. Carney drives through with a takedown into Hermit's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Carney throwing strikes from guard but Hermit blocks nicely. Carney chips away with some ground and pound. Carney loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Carney being controlled here momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carney pushing down on Hermit's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Carney looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Carney with the ground and pound but Hermit uses the opportunity to regain guard. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carney sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hermit's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rodney Carney dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hermit is defended easily by Carney. Hermit takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Carney scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Carney has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Carney trying to control the position but Hermit is working away. Hermit takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Carney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hermit keeps working. Hermit struggling a bit here. Carney wants to stand but Hermit is controlling his arm. Carney lands some shots froms side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hermit wants to control but Carney postures up. Carney is looking to take a break and control but Hermit is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The strikes coming from Carney are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Hermit is trying to get back to his feet. Carney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hermit keeps working. Carney will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carney goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hermit has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Carney but great work by Hermit. Carney dodges the ground and pound from Hermit. Carney wants to control but Hermit postures up.

Hermit thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hermit working away. Carney gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Hermit throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Carney to regain full guard. Carney manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carney looking to control but Hermit is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Carney is in the full mount, landing strikes. Hermit tries to hold on but Carney pushes him away. Carney in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hermit is squirming around, avoiding Carney's attempts to control the action. Carney looking to ground and pound but Hermit is blocking nicely. Hermit tries to hold on but Carney postures up.

Carney landing strikes from the mount and Hermit is in trouble! Hermit takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Carney landing punches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hermit avoids a series of strikes thrown by Carney.
Carney cracks Hermit with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Carney throws some wild stikes that Hermit manages to avoid easily.

Carney jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hermit is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hermit and Carney has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that's the end of the fight! Rodney Carney showed his dominance in that final round. Well Carney has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

I still haven't reached my ceiling yet. There are some monsters waiting at the top of the division so I need to improve more in order to contend with them.'.
