Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tweedle Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dee has chosen Chumbawamba - Tubthumping as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Valentine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Tweedle Dee!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine connects with a body shot that sends Dee's belly button to the back.
Dee walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Valentine checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Valentine misses with a series of wild punches.
Valentine jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Valentine.
Dee moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Dee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Valentine.
Valentine cracks a nice hook into Dee's ribs.
Valentine throws a hook to the side of Dee's head but Dee sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dee thumps Valentine with a low kick.
Dee fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Valentine checks it well.

Dee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Valentine's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Dee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Valentine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This has been an exciting period of action!
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Dee working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Valentine counters with a takedown into side control.

You can see the frustration on Dee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Valentine looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Dee is avoiding damage well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dee wants to control but Valentine postures up.

Dee is not content to let Valentine control the position.

Valentine creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Dee manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Dee takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Dee is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Dee throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Dee takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Valentine fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dee has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Valentine throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dee throws a leg kick but Valentine sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Dee bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Dee closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Valentine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Valentine wants it to stay on the feet.
Dee looks to land a body kick but Valentine moved away.
Dee misses with a looping left.
Dee is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Valentine.
Dee throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Valentine fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dee sprawls well initially but Valentine persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dee works his way to full guard. Good work.
Dee has control of Valentine's left arm, preventing Valentine from doing any damage.
Valentine wants to control from the top but Dee keeps moving.

and Dee counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Valentine's guard now.

Dee takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Valentine is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Dee pulls his head out easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dee is stalling here. Valentine is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Dee seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Valentine has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Dee manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Valentine manages to get himself to full guard.

Dee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Dee got a little sloppy there for a moment and Valentine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dee has managed to get both his arms back between Valentine's legs - danger averted.

Well Dee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
