Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mateus Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josef Urrah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urrah has chosen Johnny Cash - Oney as his entrance music. Josef Urrah told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mateus Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josef Urrah! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Urrah misses with a low kick as Gracie jumps back. Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Urrah avoids it really well and circles away. Urrah throws a jab but it's blocked by Gracie. Good work by Gracie as he checks the leg kick. Gracie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Urrah with a body punch. A glancing blow. Gracie avoids the body shot from Urrah.
Gracie is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A combination from Urrah does no damage. Gracie blocks a leg kick. Urrah misses with a low kick. Gracie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gracie throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Urrah's head. Urrah feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gracie's calf. Gracie with a jab. Gracie checks a low kick from Urrah.
That's one minute gone in the round. Urrah works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Urrah on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gracie. Gracie obviously looking to wear him down.
Josef Urrah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Urrah throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it. Urrah throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Urrah thumps Gracie with a low kick. Urrah misses with a wild body shot. Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Urrah sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Josef Urrah is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A head kick misses from Gracie. Urrah throws a lazy right hand but Gracie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A shot to the liver by Gracie. Beautiful body shot. Gracie blocks a head kick by Urrah.
Urrah tries to sprawl but Gracie drives through with a takedown into half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Gracie is looking to advance position but Urrah won't allow it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gracie throwing shots but Urrah is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Urrah keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Urrah is looking to improve his position.
Urrah wants to control the action here but instead Gracie manages to pass to full mount! Gracie is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Urrah can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Urrah is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Urrah tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gracie raining down hammerfists from mount. Urrah tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gracie controlling the pace for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie raining down hammerfists from mount. Gracie prevents Urrah from getting the reversal. Urrah is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action. Urrah is trying to escape the mount.
Gracie tries to control but Urrah wriggling away. A big strike lands for Gracie! That's really hurt Urrah and he's turned his back - Gracie keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Gracie jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mateus Gracie! Mateus Gracie took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'I'm takin my talents to Hilo to kick back and chill on the beach. Got a sweet offer from Ryan to be a coach at the boom boom room and pass my knowledge on to the next generation of fighters.
