The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ovaska on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Cox displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ovaska throws out the jab.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cox has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Ovaska has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cox.
Both fighters circling a little - Cox finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Reuben Cox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cox throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cox walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Cox will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Cox throws a big counter head kick but Ovaska avoids it with no problem.
Ovaska fails to land with a series of punches.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cox.
Cox fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ovaska has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ovaska has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Cox.
Cox lands with a slapping head kick.
Cox tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ovaska swats him away and circles back towards the center.
As Cox backs away, Ovaska returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

Ovaska throws a series of strikes that have Cox backpedaling.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cox throws a series of punches but Ovaska avoids them all with ease.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Reuben Cox will probably get the nod.

Oooooh!!! Ovaska has knocked Cox down with a huge combo! Ovaska steps away and waves a wobbly Cox back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
