Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darius Kasparaitis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slade Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kasparaitis comes to the cage accompanied by Gotta Get Away. Slade Wilson has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darius Kasparaitis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Slade Wilson! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kasparaitis takes a body punch but keeps moving. Kasparaitis lands with an overhand left. Wilson lands a body shot.
Kasparaitis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A shot to the liver by Kasparaitis. Beautiful body shot. Kasparaitis scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Wilson tries to clinch up but Kasparaitis circles away and keeps his distance. Kasparaitis takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wilson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Kasparaitis tests Wilson's chin there with a solid looking shot. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kasparaitis, as that shot connected.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wilson attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Wilson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Wilson doesn't manage to clinch there - Kasparaitis circles away.
Wilson scores with the left hand. Kasparaitis knows he should have avoided that one. Kasparaitis missing with a left hand there. Wilson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kasparaitis lands with a good body shot.

Wilson moves out of range as Kasparaitis strikes. A low kick from Wilson is predictable there and Kasparaitis counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wilson! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wilson struggling a bit here. A lull in the action here as Kasparaitis stalls from top position. Wilson is looking to reverse the position. Wilson is trying to escape the position but Kasparaitis is controlling the position. Kasparaitis throws an elbow but Wilson slips to the side and avoids it well. Kasparaitis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Kasparaitis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Kasparaitis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wilson keeps working.

Kasparaitis wants to control but Wilson is keeping him busy. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Kasparaitis works his way into side control. Wilson struggling a bit here. Wilson defending against the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kasparaitis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Wilson defending against the ground and pound. Kasparaitis tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Wilson tries to buck Kasparaitis off but Kasparaitis is having none of it. Kasparaitis creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Wilson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Wilson is trying to control Kasparaitis's posture but Kasparaitis avoids it. Kasparaitis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilson regains half guard. Kasparaitis is taking a breather. Wilson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Decent striking displayed by Kasparaitis there. Kasparaitis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wilson sees it coming and avoids it easily. Kasparaitis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Nice cross by Kasparaitis. Darius Kasparaitis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wilson stuffs the takedown. Kasparaitis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Wilson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kasparaitis has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kasparaitis and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Kasparaitis attempts a counter takedown but Wilson avoids it well and moves away. Wilson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Kasparaitis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Darius Kasparaitis is winning the standup battle so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kasparaitis takes a shot right to the bread basket. Kasparaitis on the wrong end of a nice jab. Wilson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kasparaitis throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Kasparaitis misses with a wild body shot. Wilson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kasparaitis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wilson. Wilson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Wilson throws a body kick that misses. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kasparaitis here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Wilson throws a body punch but Kasparaitis moves out of range. Wilson lands an overhand right. Kasparaitis scores with a nice strike. Kasparaitis checks a leg kick. Kasparaitis throws a jab but it's blocked by Wilson. Kasparaitis walks into a left hand. Wilson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kasparaitis. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kasparaitis throws a low kick but Wilson avoids it. Wilson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kasparaitis.

Kasparaitis shoots in looking for a takedown but Wilson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kasparaitis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darius Kasparaitis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kasparaitis throws a head punch that misses. Kasparaitis scores with a hook to the body. Kasparaitis blocks an uppercut.

A close second round but Slade Wilson will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Kasparaitis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Kasparaitis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Kasparaitis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Kasparaitis loads up on a big right hand but Wilson slips the punch. Wilson scores with a leg kick.
Wilson connects with a high kick. Kasparaitis takes a swing at Wilson's ribcage but misses. Wilson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Wilson is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Kasparaitis rather than just go for the knockout. Wilson throws a leg kick which misses Kasparaitis's front leg but catches the back leg as Kasparaitis tries to avoid it. Kasparaitis on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Kasparaitis throws a low kick but Wilson avoids it. Kasparaitis staying out of range there. A slapping leg kick lands for Wilson.
Wilson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Kasparaitis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kasparaitis.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kasparaitis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Wilson is controlling Kasparaitis's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kasparaitis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kasparaitis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wilson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Wilson keeping moving, preventing Kasparaitis from controlling successfully. Kasparaitis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kasparaitis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kasparaitis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wilson seems keen to control Kasparaitis's posture. Darius Kasparaitis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kasparaitis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Kasparaitis trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilson gets a clinch. I was talking to Kasparaitis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Kasparaitis blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Wilson works a leg free and moves into half guard. Kasparaitis is refusing to be controlled, as Wilson sits in half guard. Kasparaitis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kasparaitis. Wilson content to stall in guard here. Wilson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilson is trying to control the action in half guard but Kasparaitis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kasparaitis looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kasparaitis regains full guard. Nicely done. Kasparaitis wants to improve his position but instead Wilson has moved into half guard.
