Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Carney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carney's entrance music is T.I. - Every Chance I get. A fine choice. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodney Carney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafael Oliveira! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carney with a jab. Oliveira shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carney defends it nicely. Oliveira takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Some wild striking there from Carney.
The crowd cheers as Carney lands an impressive looking overhand right. Oliveira doesn't seem phased though. Carney dips down and scores with a jab to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oliveira tries to clinch up but Carney circles away and keeps his distance. Carney swings for the body but Oliveira moves out of range.
Carney misses with a wild combination.
Carney scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Rodney Carney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carney takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Oliveira tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carney manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carney misses with a wild combination.
Nice shot by Carney. Carney moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Carney uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Oliveira has time to react. Carney is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. No joy there for Carney, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Oliveira fails with a takedown attempt. Carney connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carney throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Oliveira counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Oliveira shoots for a double leg takedown but Carney sprawls well. He's pushed Oliveira's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rodney Carney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rafael Oliveira. Carney listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Oliveira on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Oliveira takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Oliveira misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Carney. Oliveira takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Oliveira is rocked! Oliveira gets caught napping as Carney dives in and scores a takedown. Oliveira manages to retain guard. Oliveira is still in real trouble! Can Carney finish him? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carney sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Oliveira's guard. Oliveira seems to have recovered his senses. Carney lands strikes from half guard. Carney working Oliveira over with strikes. Oliveira won't allow Carney to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carney scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Carney takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carney seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Ground and pound from Carney. Oliveira taking some punishment here, with Carney in his half guard. Oliveira looks winded! Carney trying to control the pace. Carney is trying for a kimura here. Oliveira looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Carney wins by kimura!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rodney Carney! Rodney Carney looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'First off props to Lexi, he's a great fighter and he brings it everytime. I'm ecstatic to get a W in this new division. Hope the other 145'ers take notice because i'm here to stay. Yong Wright, no offense you're a great champ and all, but I want what you have! '.
