Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Howlett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winston McCall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howlett comes to the cage accompanied by Berserker. McCall has chosen Parkway Drive - Sleepwalker as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Winston McCall was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Howlett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Winston McCall!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot lands for Howlett.
A slow jab from Howlett misses its intended target.
McCall uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Howlett.
Howlett scores with a sloppy right hand. McCall should have avoided that one.
Howlett throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Howlett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McCall.
Howlett looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Howlett lands with a nice body punch.
Howlett misses with an attempted mid kick.
McCall lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
We've been informed that McCall has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Howlett feints and then cracks McCall's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McCall down.

McCall throws a front kick aimed at Howlett's knee but Howlett avoids it well.
Howlett fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McCall has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Howlett lands with a kick to the temple. McCall shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McCall tries to clinch but Howlett is having none of it.

Howlett misses with an uppercut. McCall saw that one coming.

Howlett lands a nice hook to McCall's body. McCall takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Howlett throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McCall.

McCall's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McCall paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Howlett throws a jab but it's blocked by McCall.

Howlett motions for McCall to come forward. Howlett throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Howlett wants to land a leg kick but McCall is out of range.
Howlett swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McCall counters with a head kick. That will keep Howlett thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
McCall shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Howlett sprawls well. Howlett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McCall gets slowly back to his feet.
Good leg kick by Howlett there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but McCall might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Howlett has got the better of the exchanges.

McCall's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
McCall has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Howlett is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Howlett.
Howlett's corner calls for a 1-2. Howlett obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
McCall tries to move into range but Howlett moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Howlett bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Howlett stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


McCall has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Howlett finds it's way round the side to connect with McCall's head.

McCall has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
McCall has had enough of the clinch but Howlett keeps him there for the moment.

McCall closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Howlett manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

James Howlett showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Howlett, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
