Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rubicon Brandy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodney Carney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carney comes into a darkened arena with his song building. T.I. - Every Chance I get kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! This should be fireworks!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodney Carney!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Carney. That snapped Brandy's head back.
Carney waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Brandy.
Brandy is looking to counter the offense by Carney and move into the clinch.
Carney scores with a nice right hand.

Brandy lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Rodney Carney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carney rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brandy moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Brandy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Carney connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Brandy scrambles back to his feet.

As Carney tries to get set, Brandy tries to push him back and clinch up but Carney manages to avoid the attempt.

Carney connects with a right hand. Brandy shakes it off.

Brandy moves out of range of the strikes.
Carney scores with a body shot.
Carney throws a series of punches but Brandy avoids them all with ease.
Brandy appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Brandy bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Carney's head.
Brandy takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Carney missing with a left hand there. Brandy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Brandy wants to clinch up but Carney keeps it at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Carney had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Brandy defends it easily.

Carney is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Carney throws his legs up looking for a submission but Brandy uses it to pass to side control.
You can see the frustration on Carney's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Brandy happy to just control the position for now.
Carney is looking to reverse the position.
Brandy is putting a hurting on Carney here, landing some big shots from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brandy staying calm.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brandy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carney's shoulder. That is not cool.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carney is trying to get back to half guard.
Carney looking for a sweep but Brandy has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Carney wants to hold on but Brandy pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodney Carney dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Brandy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carney manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Brandy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carney keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carney has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Carney moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Brandy stays in close to Carney's body and controls the position.

Carney throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Brandy escapes and throws Carney's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Carney has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Rubicon Brandy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Carney wants to stand and escape but Brandy is having none of it.

Brandy rolls, trying to escape but Carney keeps control of the position.
Brandy looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

I really don't envy Brandy right now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rubicon Brandy will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Carney working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brandy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Carney is tightening it up a little... Brandy has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Brandy reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Brandy taps out! Nice BJJ there by Carney!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Rodney Carney!
Rodney Carney very nearly forgot to thank Mohito Fightwear amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
