PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Bonner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazimir Evgeni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evgeni comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Lad's Heart kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Evgeni has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shawn Bonner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kazimir Evgeni!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evgeni wants to clinch up but Bonner keeps it at a distance.
Evgeni misses with a low kick.
Bonner shoots in looking for a takedown but Evgeni manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bonner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Bonner scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Evgeni doesn't seem bothered though.

Evgeni misses with a jab, cross combination.

Bonner moves away from the strike by Evgeni.

As Evgeni tries to get set, Bonner tries to push him back and clinch up but Evgeni manages to avoid the attempt.

Bonner closes the distance and clinches.

Bonner tries to throw a body punch but Evgeni avoids it by throwing Bonner back against the cage.

Evgeni wants to stand and escape but instead Bonner has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Bonner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bonner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bonner manages to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bonner is on top in guard.

Bonner is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Bonner drops back looking for a leg! Evgeni is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Evgeni manages to kick Bonner off! Bonner jumps back into Evgeni's guard.
Bonner wants to stand but Evgeni is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Evgeni throws a right hand that Bonner ducks under and follows up with a left that Bonner also avoids with ease.
Kazimir Evgeni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Evgeni gets tackled into the cage by Bonner. Bonner maintains the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Evgeni is working an open guard so Bonner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A quick step to the side and Bonner tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Evgeni swats away the attempt to clinch by Bonner.
Bonner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Evgeni keeps the fight on the outside.
Evgeni was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Bonner has taken the fight to the clinch.

Bonner successfully pulls guard.
Evgeni is fighting to break Bonner's control of his arms but Bonner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Bonner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bonner tries to stand but can't do so whilst Evgeni controls his leg.

Bonner not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Bonner is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Evgeni doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bonner.
Evgeni wants to get back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bonner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
