PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Slower Poke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Voorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Slower Poke has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Slower Poke seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Slower Poke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Voorhees!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Voorhees.
Voorhees tries a low kick but Poke avoids it.
Voorhees checks a low kick from Poke.
Some bone on bone action there as Poke checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Voorhees sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Poke scores with a nice body kick.
Voorhees connects with a solid leg kick.
Poke throws a leg kick but Voorhees sees it coming and moves out of range.
Voorhees throws out a leg kick but Poke moves out of range and Voorhees only half commits.
Voorhees throws a big shot that misses.
Poke scores with a kick to the body.
Voorhees blocks a head kick by Poke.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Poke, right into the meat.
Poke misses with a takedown attempt
and Voorhees counters with an outside leg kick.
Voorhees ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Poke moves away.
Poke scores with a leg kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Poke.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Voorhees misses with a low kick.
Jason Voorhees is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Voorhees counters with a straight right hand.
Voorhees throws a hook but Poke blocks it.
Voorhees checks a low kick from Poke.
Poke bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A good leg kick by Poke.
Poke looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Poke's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Voorhees connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Poke scrambles back to his feet.
Voorhees waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Poke.
Voorhees throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Poke sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Poke drops down looking for a counter takedown but Voorhees sprawls and moves away.
Voorhees takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Poke tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A low kick from Poke is predictable there
and Voorhees counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Poke lands with a thumping leg kick.

Poke shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Poke was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Voorhees struggling a bit here.

Poke trying to control the action but Voorhees is working from the bottom.
Poke in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Poke has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Voorhees is trying to control Poke's posture but Poke avoids it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Poke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Voorhees keeps working.

Voorhees takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Poke scoring with punches and elbows.
Voorhees really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Voorhees is working to avoid the ground and pound but Poke connects with a decent elbow.
Voorhees tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Poke wants to control but Voorhees is keeping him busy.
Voorhees is trying to improve his position.

Poke working the body and head with strikes.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Voorhees can do anything to dispel that myth.
Poke in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Poke trying to control the action but Voorhees is working from the bottom.

Poke is working Voorhees over with some ground and pound from side control.

Poke scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Voorhees to see if he's OK.
Voorhees takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Voorhees can't do much from the bottom here.
Voorhees takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Poke has an Americana. Voorhees didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Poke is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Poke hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Slower Poke!
