Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rod Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazimir Evgeni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Evgeni is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Lad's Heart. Kazimir Evgeni has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rod Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kazimir Evgeni! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evgeni throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A counter left hand to the body from Cook misses its target. Cook fails with a takedown attempt. Evgeni drops Cook with a left right combo! Evgeni follows him down to the ground into side control.
It looks like Rod Cook has been cut. Cook trying to remain calm as Evgeni controls from the top position. This has been an exciting period of action! Evgeni thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Cook can't do much from the bottom here. Evgeni decides to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evgeni misses with a double jab.
Cook throws a series of punches but Evgeni moves out of range. Cook wants to clinch but Evgeni slips to the side and Evgeni counters with a left to the body. Evgeni shoots in but no luck this time. Cook attempts a counter takedown but Evgeni avoids it well and moves away. Evgeni tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cook was well out of range. Poor timing from Evgeni. Evgeni tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Cook manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A shot to the body from Evgeni misses and Cook counters by moving into the clinch. Cook gets control of Evgeni's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cook will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Evgeni controlling from the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evgeni is looking to pass into half guard but Cook pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cook is in guard. Cook working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evgeni can do anything to dispel that myth. Cook postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evgeni working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cook. Cook loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Evgeni preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook cracks Evgeni with a solid left hand. Cook in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Evgeni has Cook pulled in close to control his posture.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Cook is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Evgeni shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Evgeni slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Evgeni postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cook is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Evgeni, into his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cook throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Evgeni preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Evgeni preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Cook throwing strikes but missing. Evgeni is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kazimir Evgeni dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rod Cook's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Cook takes one to the side of the head.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Evgeni, as that shot connected.
Cook dodges the punch combination from Evgeni.
Evgeni wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Cook throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kazimir Evgeni seems to be getting the better of the standup. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Evgeni stuffs the takedown attempt from Cook. Cook gets slowly back to his feet. Evgeni feints with a jab and clips Cook right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Cook is sent crashing into the canvas and Evgeni leaps in for the kill! Cook tries to get to his feet but Evgeni is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Cook is in need of a savior and steps in!
