PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Orlando Diggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orlando Diggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Wright!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wright should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Diggs is trying to break the clinch but Wright has him pressed against the cage.
Diggs can't break the clinch.
Wright tries to break free but Diggs pushes him back against the cage.
Diggs has a couple of punches blocked by Wright.
Wright scores with a hook to the body.
Wright tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Diggs's elbow.
Diggs is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Diggs goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Wright tries to work over Diggs's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Wright is trying to break the clinch but Diggs is controlling him.
Wright tries a body shot but Diggs blocks it.

Diggs decides to pull guard.
Wright missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Diggs trying to keep a closed guard but Wright is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Diggs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wright missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Wright must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Diggs is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wright defends well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diggs preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Diggs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wright throws a big right hand that misses.
Wright with a flurry of punches that miss.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Wright trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Diggs is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Diggs lunges at Wright with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wright's hand.
Diggs avoids the body shot from Wright.
Wright uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Diggs.
Wright tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Diggs was well out of range. Poor timing from Wright.
Diggs looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Diggs misses with a body shot.
Diggs throws a nice inside leg kick.
Diggs seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Diggs lands a big head kick that sends Wright tumbling to the mat! Diggs takes a step backwards and waves Wright back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Wright is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wright finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The fighters circle, before Diggs throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Wright's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Diggs lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Orlando Diggs!
After the big win, Orlando Diggs made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Conviction and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
