Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Trane! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lester Jangles! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trane slips a jab from Jangles. Jangles jabs Trane right on the nose. Trane blinks but takes it well.
It looks like John Trane has been cut. Trane takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Jangles looks to land a left hand but Trane moved out of range nicely. Jangles is looking to clinch but Trane is avoiding it.
Jangles throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jangles uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Trane. Trane takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Jangles throws a body shot but no joy. A little feinted left hand from Trane on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trane's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Trane duly obliges.
It looks like Lester Jangles has been cut. Trane scores with a punch to the head. Jangles misses with a body kick. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jangles scores with a spinning back kick! Lester Jangles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jangles uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Trane.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jangles lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Trane at a distance.
Jangles looks to throw the jab but Trane is out of range. Trane is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Jangles misses with a hook. Jangles moves into the clinch. Jangles lands a nice uppercut. Trane blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Jangles tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Jangles scores with a hook to the body. Trane tries to break free but Jangles pushes him back against the cage. Trane tries to break the clinch but Jangles is controlling the position. Trane blocks a punch to the side of the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jangles lands with a short shot to the head. Trane takes a shot to the head. A frustrated look appears on Trane's face as he tries to break the clinch. Trane blocks an uppercut.
Trane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jangles lands with a kick to the ribs.
Trane throws a nice looking combination but Jangles bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Jangles is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Jangles fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Jangles looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Trane takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nice defenses there by Trane. Jangles lands a leg kick that knocks Trane off balance momentarily. Jangles feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Trane's calf. John Trane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jangles fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jangles misses with a left hand and Trane counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jangles is looking to clinch but Trane is avoiding it.
It looked like Trane was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Trane throws a hook but Jangles avoids it easily. A nice side step and Jangles releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Jangles.

Trane ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Trane misses with an uppercut. Jangles lands a head shot. Jangles misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Trane.
Jangles connects with a nice looking jab.
Trane throws a predictable looking body shot
and Jangles counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Trane lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Trane bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jangles's head backwards. Trane avoids a kick to the body.
Jangles throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jangles throws a leg kick but Trane checks it. Trane jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Jangles looks like he wants to counter punch here. Trane has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jangles. Jangles jabs Trane right on the nose. Trane blinks but takes it well. A combination from Jangles does no damage. Trane half committed to a counter leg kick. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jangles throws a hook but Trane blocks it. Jangles lands the left hand. Jangles looks to land a right hand but Trane moved out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lester Jangles dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Back to the action!
Trane takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Jangles slips under a jab from Trane. Jangles lands a jab. Jangles stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Trane takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Jangles has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Trane misses the jab. Trane throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jangles lands a right hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jangles scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. A low kick from Jangles misses and Trane counters with a nice leg kick. Jangles connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jangles fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Trane sprawls well initially but Jangles persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jangles is trying to control. Trane wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Jangles looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Jangles working the head and body with strikes. Jangles performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Jangles thows a huge punch but Trane dodges it nicely.
Jangles has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jangles not doing much here.
Trane manages to get to full guard.
Trane wants to stand up but Jangles is controlling him. Jangles has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Trane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Trane isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jangles stacks Trane on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jangles! Trane manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jangles's best efforts. Jangles trying to mount his opponent but Trane defends it. Jangles sitting and controlling from the half guard. Trane has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jangles is working away from the top position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trane is refusing to be controlled, as Jangles sits in half guard. Jangles scoring with strikes to the body and head. Trane is trying to stand.
Jangles is looking to advance position but Trane won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jangles working Trane over with strikes. Jangles moves into full mount! Trane won't be happy about that! Jangles landing strikes from the mount and Trane is in trouble!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trane regains half guard. Jangles with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Jangles wants to pass the guard but Trane is defending well. Jangles controlling the action here. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Trane is trying to stand back up but Jangles is controlling him

Lester Jangles showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's time! Back to the action!

and Jangles makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Trane really felt that one! Jangles cracks the inside of Trane's front leg. Lester Jangles seems to be getting the better of the standup. A jab from Trane misses. Donk. Jangles catches Trane right on the button with a cross. Trane blocks the body kick.
Jangles smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Trane throws a left and a right that both miss

Trane has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Jangles. Jangles drives through and clinches with Trane against the cage.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jangles tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Trane's elbow. Jangles misses with a short punch on the inside. Jangles tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A shot in the inside from Jangles. Jangles keeps control of Trane as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Jangles lands on the inside with an uppercut. Trane tries to circle away but Jangles has him pinned against the cage. Trane is trying to break the clinch but Jangles has him pressed against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Trane. Jangles misses with a punch on the inside.
Trane wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Some bone on bone action there as Trane checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Jangles lands a big head kick that sends Trane tumbling to the mat! Jangles takes a step backwards and waves Trane back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Jangles cracks Trane with a hook to the temple - Trane is on wobbly legs here! Jangles swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Trane falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Jangles wins by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Lester Jangles! Lester Jangles is the new middleweight champion! A less than humble Lester Jangles misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
