PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wily Swagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Carter Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swagger comes to the cage accompanied by Waylon Jennings - Good Ol' Boys. Williams is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Hollywood Undead - Been to Hell . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wily Swagger!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sean Carter Williams!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swagger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.
Williams has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Swagger is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Swagger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Swagger trying to control the position but Williams is working away.

Swagger swings around for an armbar but Williams sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Swagger's guard.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Williams gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Williams connects with a body shot.
Swagger misses with a takedown
and Williams counters with a nice uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Williams throws a good cross that connects.
Williams throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Swagger sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Swagger on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Wily Swagger has been cut.
Williams cracks Swagger with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A solid leg kick lands there for Swagger.
Williams misses with a hook

and Swagger counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.
Williams wants to stand but Swagger is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Swagger trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Swagger is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Swagger is working Williams over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Swagger has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Swagger wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Swagger accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Swagger postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Swagger looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Williams manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Williams lands a right hand.

Williams is fighting off a takedown attempt but Swagger is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Williams to the mat. Williams regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Swagger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Swagger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Williams can't keep his opponent in guard - Swagger advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams looks like he's trying to stand up.
Swagger is taking a breather. Williams says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Swagger is looking to advance position but Williams won't allow it.
Swagger throwing shots but Williams is blocking nicely.
Swagger thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Williams's head.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Swagger not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Swagger wants to control but Williams is keeping him busy.
Swagger throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Still in half guard, Swagger seems content to control.
Williams keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Swagger trying to control the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Swagger throws a lazy uppercut
and Williams counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Williams cracks a nice hook into Swagger's ribs.
Swagger on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Swagger walks into a straight right hand from Williams.
Swagger throws a half hearted mid kick.

Swagger feints and as Williams raises his hands in defense, Swagger changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Swagger content to stall in guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sean Carter Williams dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Wily Swagger's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Swagger ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Swagger misses with a kick to the body.
Swagger throws a series of punches but Williams moves out of range.

Williams cracks Swagger with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Swagger looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Williams finish him?


Swagger is rocked!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams misses with a straight left.
Swagger misses with a kick to the body.
Williams misses with a looping right.
Williams uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Swagger has time to react.
Oh Swagger is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Good leg kick by Williams there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Swagger looks to throw a body kick
and Williams counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Williams engages and cracks Swagger with a massive lead left hook - Swagger tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Williams is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sean Carter Williams!
Sean Carter Williams is the new middleweight champion!
Sean Carter Williams decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
