Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Phillpott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jim Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alan Phillpott! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones shoots in for a takedown but Phillpott shows good takedown defense. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones. Phillpott is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Phillpott rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage. Jones can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones wants a takedown.
Phillpott prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jones tightens his grip and picks Phillpott up, before dumping him to the ground. Phillpott manages to land in guard. Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Phillpott is retaining full guard. Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Phillpott is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Jones is not content to let Phillpott control the position. Well, if Phillpott is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phillpott decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Jones shoots in and bounces Phillpott off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Phillpott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phillpott controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself. Phillpott pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage. Jones stands and throws Phillpott's legs to the side, diving into side control. Phillpott is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jones working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Phillpott keeps trying to improve his position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Phillpott regains half guard. Phillpott trying to control from the bottom.
Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Phillpott is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold. Phillpott is trying to stand up here but Jones is controlling him well.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Alan Phillpott will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phillpott as he jumps to the side. Phillpott rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Phillpott tries to work over Jones's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Jones is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Phillpott pulls him back up using the underhooks. Phillpott has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately. Phillpott content to stall in guard here. Phillpott pushing down on Jones's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phillpott trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phillpott throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Phillpott throws a strike but Jones manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Phillpott tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
