Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Anthony Graham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Royal Pain! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Graham throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pain is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Graham's half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pain is looking to pass Graham's guard but actually Graham recovers to full guard. Graham wants to stand up but Pain is controlling him. Pain trying to control the position from guard on top but Graham is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pain won't allow Graham to get back to his feet. Graham trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Pain chips away with some ground and pound. Graham has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pain lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Pain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pain drops back looking for a leg! Graham is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Graham manages to kick Pain off! Pain jumps back into Graham's guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Pain throws a big right hand that misses. Pain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Graham swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pain thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Pain throws a big elbow that misses. Pain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pain drops back looking for a leg! Graham is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Graham manages to kick Pain off! Pain jumps back into Graham's guard. Graham wants to stand but Pain is controlling the position. Graham is looking to stand back up but Pain counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Graham.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pain trying to mount his opponent but Graham defends it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Pain landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Pain throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Graham won't allow Pain to pass to mount. Pain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pain is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pain maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Graham could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Pain has cracked it and Graham is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Pain!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Royal Pain! Royal Pain very nearly forgot to thank Sully's Bar & Grill amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you. The defeated Anthony Graham had this to say: 'BOMBACLAUGHT!!!'.
