The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hill looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Powder won't allow Hill to pass to mount.
Well, if Hill is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hill wants to free his trapped foot but Powder is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Powder has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Hill escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Hill!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hill tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Hill goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Powder rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hill's guard! Nice work there by Powder!
Powder trying to control the position from guard on top but Hill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Powder has gone for a leg lock! Hill slips out almost immediately though and dives into Powder's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Powder is not content to let Hill control the position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamie Hill dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Powder closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hill is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Powder's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Powder's back!

Hill goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Powder escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Powder wants to control but Hill is keeping him busy.

Powder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Powder has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Highland CT & Spar. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hill tries to roll over but Powder keeps him under control.

Powder is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Powder is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Powder is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Hill is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
