Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Ashton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darnell Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ashton comes to the cage accompanied by Zombie Nation. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Ashton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darnell Cane! The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Ackerman and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cane staying out of range there. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cane has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Ashton looks to land a left hand but Cane moved out of range nicely. Ashton punishes Cane's body with a nice straight punch. Ashton looks to land a left hand but Cane moved out of range nicely. Cane with the counter takedown but Ashton avoids it easily. Ashton bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Ashton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cane was well out of range. Poor timing from Ashton. A little jabbing left from Cane on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Cane gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Cane throws a body shot but no joy. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ashton is defended easily by Cane. Cane drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ashton defends it well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ashton shoots in looking for a takedown but Cane manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ashton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's better than Ashton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! You can see the frustration on Cane's face as Ashton controls the position. We've been hearing that Ashton has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ashton in side control, throwing shots but Cane defends. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ashton is looking to take a break and control but Cane is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ashton creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cane sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Cane managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ashton.

Ashton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ashton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. That's one minute gone in the round. Cane keeping moving, preventing Ashton from controlling successfully. Ashton stopping the sweep attempt from Cane. Ashton pushing down on Cane's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Cane works his way to full guard. Good work. Ashton trying to control the position from guard on top but Cane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cane tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ashton with a flurry of punches that miss. Cane pulls Ashton in to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Darnell Cane is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ashton misses with a looping right. Ashton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cane moves away. Cane takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ashton closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cane circles away. Cane tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Ashton looks to land a right hand but Cane moved out of range. Ashton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cane.
Ashton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric Ashton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ashton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cane sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ashton somewhat. Cane lands a nice looking body shot.
Cane throws a jab but it's blocked by Ashton. An attempted straight right counter from Ashton misses the target. Cane stuns Ashton with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Ashton shoots in for a takedown but Cane shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cane gets caught flat footed, as Ashton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Ashton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cane can do to turn this around? Ashton is working Cane over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Ashton throws a big right hand that misses. Cane is trying to keep Ashton in close.

Cane displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ashton. Eric Ashton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cane throws a body shot but no joy. Darnell Cane has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Cane looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Ashton throws a shot from downtown. Cane moves away and avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ashton bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cane's head. Cane uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Ashton lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Ashton thows a left - swing and a miss! Nice defenses there by Ashton. A counter left hand to the body from Ashton misses its target. Cane throws a body shot but no joy. Cane thows a left - swing and a miss! A jab from Ashton does it's job there. Ashton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cane swats him away and circles back towards the center. Ashton shoots in for a takedown but Cane shows good takedown defense. Ashton closes the distance and clinches up with Cane, looking for a takedown. Ashton pushes Cane against the cage but Cane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cane defending well as Ashton loads up on a big left hand. Ashton drives through with a takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Ashton throws a big right hand that misses. Ashton wants to control from the top but Cane keeps moving. Ashton is looking to work some ground and pound but Cane has wrist control. Ashton landing with the ground and pound. Cane doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Eric Ashton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Ashton lying in Cane's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Cane decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Ashton taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
