Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Green! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lance Maroga! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Green is looking to land body kicks. Maroga will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Green checks a leg kick. Green wants to slow Maroga down by chopping away at his legs. Maroga swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Maroga has closed the distance and engaged Green in a clinch.
Green breaks from the clinch.
Maroga just misses with a punch to the body.
Maroga closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Green did well to prevent Maroga getting side control. Maroga prevents Green from improving his position. Maroga is looking to take a break and control but Green is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Maroga throwing shots but Green is blocking nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maroga wants to lay and pray for a moment but Green keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maroga seems to be looking for submissions.
Green is trying to stand.
Green wants to control but Maroga is keeping busy.
Maroga content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Green is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Green wants to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Nice uppercut lands for Green. That snapped Maroga's head back.
Green is looking to land body kicks. Maroga throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Green tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Maroga is in Green's guard. Green is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Green is trying to control the position but Maroga postures up. Green keeping moving, preventing Maroga from controlling successfully. Maroga content to stall in guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maroga passes into half guard. Green knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maroga on the ground. Maroga tries to pass to full mount but Green defends it. Green on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Green tries to get out of the position. Maroga keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Maroga lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Maroga in particular looking to stall. Maroga wants to lay and pray for a moment but Green keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Green has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Maroga is working away from the top position though. Maroga is controlling the pace.
Green is not content to let Maroga control the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Green wants to control but Maroga is keeping busy.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Green lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Maroga circles away quickly and effectively. Maroga has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Maroga takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lance Maroga dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Green throws a push kick but Maroga slaps the foot to one side. Maroga has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Maroga shoots in for a takedown but Green shows good takedown defense. A chopping leg kick lands by Green. Green gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Maroga to score an easy takedown into full guard. Maroga wants to control from the top but Green keeps moving. Maroga showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maroga in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Lance Maroga has got the better of the ground game so far. Maroga won't allow Green to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maroga drops back looking for a leg! Green is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Green manages to kick Maroga off! Maroga jumps back into Green's guard. Maroga being controlled here momentarily. Green wants to sweep here but Maroga controlling him for the moment. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Green keeping moving, preventing Maroga from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A chopping leg kick lands by Green. Maroga shoots in for a takedown but Green shows good takedown defense.

Bob Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Maroga. Green goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Bob Green is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Maroga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Green defends well and Maroga ends up having to push Green into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Green smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Green throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Maroga's head. Green misses with an uppercut. Maroga saw that one coming. Bob Green is winning the standup battle so far. Maroga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Green tries to avoid it but Maroga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Green to the ground. Green escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Maroga is breathing heavily. Maroga shoots for a double leg takedown but Green sprawls well. He's pushed Maroga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Green lets loose with a powerful body kick. Maroga will feel that in the morning. Maroga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Green tries to avoid it but Maroga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Green to the ground. Green escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Green lands with a straight right. Maroga didn't see that one coming. Maroga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Green throws a good cross that connects.
Nice shot by Green. Maroga shoots in and drives through. Green sprawls well. Green throws a head kick but Maroga moves out of range.
Bob Green seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice defenses there by Maroga. Green lands a head shot. Green throws the kick towards the body but Maroga avoids it. Maroga is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Maroga throws a body shot but no joy. Maroga blocks a head kick by Green.
Nice takedown defense from Green. No joy for Maroga on that attempt. Maroga walks into a left hand. Green misses with a few strikes there.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Green feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Maroga's calf. Maroga steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Green. Maroga is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Green pulls out of a head kick attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action! Maroga scores with a one two! Green had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The fight moves into the clinch position. Maroga gets control of Green's arms and successfully pulls guard. Maroga will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Green being controlled here momentarily. Green not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Green dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Nice sprawl there from Green as Maroga shoots in. Green is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Maroga. Green throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Maroga. Maroga gets a takedown into half guard. Maroga trying to control the action but Green is working from the bottom. Green keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maroga decides to stand up. Maroga moves out of range of the body kick from Green.
That's one minute gone in the round. Green lands a nice looking kick to the body. Maroga takes a step back to recover. Both fighters are breathing heavily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Maroga. Green went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Green scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Green cracks Maroga with an open hand slap. Lance Maroga is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Green throws a right and a left that both miss. That kick from Green tenderised Maroga's leg. Maroga is trying to keep his angry face on. Green throws a looping overhand right but Maroga ducks down to avoid it. Green cracks Maroga with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Green lets loose with a powerful body kick. Maroga will feel that in the morning. Maroga throws an overhand right that lands on Green's shoulder, as Green tries to avoid the shot. Maroga misses with a takedown enabling Green to counter with a crisp jab. Bob Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Maroga.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maroga tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Crunch! Green slams his shin into Maroga's torso. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Maroga displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Green throws out the jab. Maroga scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Maroga tries to land a leg kick but Green saw it coming and moves away.
Maroga tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Maroga tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Green swivels and escapes. Maroga tries to close the distance and clinch but Green swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A nice leg kick lands there from Green. Nice sprawl there from Green as Maroga shoots in. Green throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Green throws a sloppy head kick and Maroga moves out of range easily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Maroga is defended easily by Green.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Green connects with a high kick. Green misses with a double jab.
And Maroga tries to counter it with a takedown but Green pushes his down on his head and steps out. Maroga ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Maroga drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Green defends it well. Green throws a nice outside leg kick. Maroga shoots in but no luck this time. Green dips to his left and cracks Maroga with an uppercut! Maroga closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Green to the mat! Green manages to get full guard. Green pulls Maroga in close to prevent any damage. Green is trying to control the position but Maroga postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maroga scoring with some ground and pound. Maroga showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Green seems keen to control Maroga's posture. Maroga chips away with some ground and pound. Maroga lands a couple of digs. Maroga pushes down on Green's leg and manages to get into half guard. Green is trying to control but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Bob Green showed his dominance in that final round. I think Green has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
