PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tapio Valo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tweedle Dum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tweedle Dum told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tweedle Dum!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valo swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Valo wants to clinch
and Dum counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Tapio Valo has been cut.
Valo tries to clinch up but Dum circles away and keeps his distance.
Valo looks to throw the jab but Dum is out of range.
A nice side step and Dum releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Dum misses with a hook. Valo ducked under it nicely.
Dum is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Valo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dum has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Valo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Tweedle Dum has been cut.
Valo tries to clinch up.
Valo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dum.
Valo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dum was well out of range. Poor timing from Valo.

Valo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Valo gets tackled into the ropes by Dum. Dum maintains the clinch.
Valo's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Dum digs a right hand into Valo's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Valo's gas tank.

Dum's coach down at Rabid Dog was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Dum's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dum lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Dum swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Dum is working Valo over against the ropes.
Dum fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Valo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Dum.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Dum creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Dum can't find room to land a body shot as Valo controls the action.
Dum swings wildly with an uppercut but Valo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dum tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Valo's elbow.
Valo lands with a left to the head.
Dum scores with a shot to the side of Valo's head.
Valo tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Dum pushes Valo back against the ropes and unloads with a body punch.

Dum doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tweedle Dum dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Valo swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Dum throws a hook to the side of Valo's head but Valo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Valo throws a sloppy body shot
and Dum counters with a nice uppercut.
Valo slips a jab from Dum.
Dum thuds a left hand into Valo's body.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Dum in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Valo looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


Valo is rocked!
Tapio Valo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Dum moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Valo! Dum continues to tee off on Valo, landing with a left and a right! Dum connects with a right hand that leaves Valo sleeping against the ropes! What a finish by Dum!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tweedle Dum! Tweedle Dum retains his middleweight title!
