Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lucifer Palhares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Five Finger Death Punch - Jekyll And Hyde. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Palhares tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McGuire is in Palhares's guard.
McGuire looking to sit in guard and control but Palhares gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McGuire looking to control.
McGuire bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Palhares's guard.
Palhares is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Palhares has his foot on McGuire's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGuire works his way back into a safe position though.
McGuire must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Palhares is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McGuire defends well.

Palhares has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McGuire can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGuire has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Palhares is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McGuire.

Palhares throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
McGuire makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McGuire.
McGuire throws his legs up looking for a submission but Palhares uses it to pass to side control.
Palhares throwing strikes but McGuire manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Palhares avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McGuire.
McGuire looks to land a strike but Palhares avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
McGuire is looking to work some ground and pound but Palhares has wrist control.
Palhares is trying to keep McGuire in close.
McGuire lands a couple of elbows.
Palhares is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but McGuire frees his head nicely. Oh but Palhares has switched to an armbar! McGuire is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
