PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Royal Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnie Kavlitzekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pain throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kavlitzekis tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pain is in Kavlitzekis's guard.
Pain is breathing heavily.
Pain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kavlitzekis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pain working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kavlitzekis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Pain postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kavlitzekis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pain, into his guard.

Kavlitzekis has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Rabid Dog. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Pain wants to sweep here but Kavlitzekis controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pain is looking to control Kavlitzekis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pain avoid being mounted?

Kavlitzekis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pain is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kavlitzekis pulls his head out easily.

Kavlitzekis wants to work for an arm triangle but Pain is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Pain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kavlitzekis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kavlitzekis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kavlitzekis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kavlitzekis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pain's guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kavlitzekis is looking for a kimura here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Johnie Kavlitzekis will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pain throws out a loose jab but Kavlitzekis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Johnie Kavlitzekis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kavlitzekis slips a straight right by Pain.
Kavlitzekis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Pain defends it well.
Pain throws a hook to the side of Kavlitzekis's head but Kavlitzekis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Kavlitzekis displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pain throws out the jab.
Pain shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kavlitzekis sprawls well. Kavlitzekis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pain gets slowly back to his feet.
Kavlitzekis changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Pain throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kavlitzekis sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Kavlitzekis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kavlitzekis.

Pain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kavlitzekis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Kavlitzekis got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kavlitzekis has managed to get both his arms back between Pain's legs - danger averted.

Pain has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kavlitzekis should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pain has tightened it up now! Kavlitzekis should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Royal Pain!
