Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Sizov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bosworth Van Mahallusen! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Mahallusen gets in close and instigates a clinch. Sizov is trying to maintain a safe position but Van Mahallusen gets an underhook and turns Sizov into the cage. Van Mahallusen throws a head punch that misses. Van Mahallusen has hold of one of Sizov's legs. Sizov is fighting the takedown attempt but Van Mahallusen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Van Mahallusen wants to control from the top but Sizov keeps moving. Sizov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Van Mahallusen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sizov being controlled here, momentarily. Van Mahallusen wants to pass the guard but Sizov is keeping the position. Sizov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Van Mahallusen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Van Mahallusen sitting in guard here, content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Van Mahallusen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Van Mahallusen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sizov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sizov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Van Mahallusen defends it easily. Van Mahallusen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sizov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Van Mahallusen is aware though and is defending well. Van Mahallusen throws a big right hand that misses. Van Mahallusen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Van Mahallusen is working Sizov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Van Mahallusen trying to control the position from guard on top but Sizov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Van Mahallusen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Van Mahallusen's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Van Mahallusen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Sizov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Van Mahallusen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sizov is tightening it up a little... Van Mahallusen has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Van Mahallusen reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Van Mahallusen taps out! Nice BJJ there by Sizov!
