PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Erick Clap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timmey The Gangster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clap comes to the cage accompanied by Burn it to the ground. The Gangster has chosen Ace Hood - Changed On Me as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Erick Clap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Timmey The Gangster!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clap throws a lazy right hand but The Gangster sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The Gangster unleashes a big counter combination but Clap bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
The Gangster throws a left and a right that both miss

and Clap counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Clap controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Clap preventing the sweep.
Clap will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Clap trying to control but The Gangster is working from the bottom.
Clap wants to pass the guard but The Gangster is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The Gangster keeping moving, preventing Clap from controlling successfully.
The Gangster can't keep his opponent in guard - Clap advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Clap blocks the strikes from The Gangster.
Clap seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but The Gangster does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Clap seems to be working for a kimura but The Gangster defends the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The Gangster wants to get back to full guard.
The Gangster wants to control but Clap is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The Gangster takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Clap.

Excellent takedown into side control there by The Gangster.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clap avoids any damage from the ground and pound of The Gangster.

Clap is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The Gangster cracks Clap with a big right hand but Clap just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Clap manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The Gangster seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Clap is concentrating on defense, preventing The Gangster from advancing position.
Clap gets full guard.
The Gangster landing with the ground and pound.
The Gangster controls from within his opponent's guard.

The Gangster chips away with some ground and pound.
Clap thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as The Gangster accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Clap is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. The Gangster is aware though and is defending well.
The Gangster chips away with some ground and pound.
The Gangster throwing strikes but missing.
Clap has momentary wrist control but The Gangster slips an elbow through the middle.
The Gangster scoring with punches to the head and body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The Gangster keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Clap's head.
Clap looking to control.
Clap is pulling down on The Gangster's head. It's preventing any offense from The Gangster, at least for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Timmey The Gangster will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Clap moves to clinch but The Gangster breaks away
and The Gangster counters with a three punch combo that has Clap backing up. Clap nods at The Gangster to acknowledge the strikes.

Clap instigates a clinch.

The Gangster misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Clap.
Clap tries to throw a body punch but The Gangster avoids it by throwing Clap back against the cage.

The Gangster trying to control the position but instead, Clap has worked for underhooks and has pushed The Gangster into the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clap works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The Gangster drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The Gangster has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Clap clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Clap grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

The Gangster controlling from the back.
The Gangster throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Clap!
Clap tries to escape the position.
Clap is working hard here to advance position.

The Gangster goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Clap escapes and is now in half guard on top.
The Gangster moves into full guard.
Clap wants to control from the top but The Gangster keeps moving.

Clap slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Clap trying to control the action but The Gangster is working from the bottom.
The Gangster sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The Gangster wants to sweep but Clap has passed to side control!

Clap tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Clap has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for The Gangster!
Clap fails to move to back control.
The Gangster swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
The Gangster is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Clap can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as The Gangster is looking to escape.

Clap looking for a guillotine from mount but The Gangster is having none of it.
The Gangster felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Clap trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Clap sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Clap wants to control the pace but The Gangster is squirming around nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The Gangster wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erick Clap dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The Gangster punishes Clap's body with a nice straight punch.

Clap is trying to defend against the ground and pound but The Gangster scores with a couple of nice shots.

Clap had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The Gangster defends it easily.

The Gangster slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Clap looking to sit in guard and control but The Gangster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells The Gangster's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Clap looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The Gangster drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Clap dives on top into guard.

Clap looking to sit in guard and control but The Gangster gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Clap lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Timmey The Gangster comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think The Gangster has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
