Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe McJoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward has chosen White and nerdy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Dustin Ward has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe McJoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dustin Ward!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McJoe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ward manages to avoid it.
McJoe backing away here, and Ward unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McJoe.
Ward only half commits to the counter leg kick.
McJoe just misses with a punch to the body.
Ward tries a quick counter leg kick but McJoe is wise to it.
McJoe lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ward circles away quickly and effectively.
McJoe shoots in for a double leg but Ward sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horrible takedown attempt by McJoe or perhaps it was just good defense by Ward, which made it look bad.

Ward appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

McJoe pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ward back to the cage. McJoe follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

McJoe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ward's waist but Ward gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McJoe off to one side.
Ward tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
McJoe shoots in looking for a takedown. Ward tries to sprawl out of it but McJoe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ward manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McJoe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ward but Ward pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McJoe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McJoe misses with a body shot
and Ward finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

McJoe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ward but Ward pushes him off and we're back to square one.

McJoe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ward tries to avoid it but McJoe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ward to the ground. Ward escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

McJoe throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ward stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ward has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
McJoe goes for a double leg but Ward avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ward continues to drive forward.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McJoe pushes down on Ward's leg and manages to get into half guard.

McJoe goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ward turns into him and now he's in McJoe's guard.
Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McJoe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McJoe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ward dives on top into guard.

McJoe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ward can do to turn this around?

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe McJoe.
Well McJoe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
