The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lyons darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lyons is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Lyons seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cage for as long as he can get away with.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cage is trying to escape back to his feet but Lyons uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Lyons's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lyons shoots in but no luck this time.

Cage has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Lyons is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Cage misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lyons drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Cage tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Lyons content just to control the position here.
Cage's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Cage tries to buck Lyons off but Lyons takes his back!

The referee asks Lyons politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lyons prefers to stall for the moment though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
