Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksey Basayev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aleksey Basayev told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kimbo Slice!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aleksey Basayev!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Basayev drives through and clinches with Slice against the cage.
Slice manages to break the clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Slice.
Basayev misses with a hook to the body
and Slice counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Aleksey Basayev has been cut.
A chopping leg kick lands by Basayev.
Slice throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Slice throws a quick inside leg kick.
Basayev instigates a clinch.
Basayev blocks a punch to the side of the head.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Slice.
Basayev lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Basayev swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Basayev misses with a punch to the body.
A short uppercut from Basayev.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slice escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slice lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Slice throws a body shot but no joy.
Basayev's coach down at Fight Factory was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Basayev's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Basayev moves out of range as Slice strikes.
Slice steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Basayev.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Slice throws a hook to the side of Basayev's head but Basayev sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Basayev let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Slice checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Slice has been working on his boxing with his coaches at DOG HOUSE!! in the buildup to the fight.
Basayev throws a sloppy head kick and Slice moves out of range easily.
Slice throws a body shot but no joy.
Jab, jab by Slice - just one landing.
Slice throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Basayev looks to throw the jab but Slice is out of range.
Slice sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Basayev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Slice ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Basayev moves away.
Basayev throws out a loose jab but Slice uses good head movement to avoid it.
Slice connects with a jab.
Decent striking displayed by Basayev there.
Basayev throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Basayev feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slices jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
That kick from Slice tenderised Basayev's leg. Basayev is trying to keep his angry face on.
Basayev bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Slice's head backwards.
Slice just misses with a punch to the body.
Basayev misses with a leg kick.
Slice seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
A left lands for Basayev.
Slice on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Basayev connects with the punch.
Basayev buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Slice fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Basayev manages to avoid it.
Basayev tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Basayev has closed the distance and engaged Slice in a clinch.
Slice lands a nice uppercut.
Slice lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Basayev is rocked!
That has opened up Aleksey Basayev's cut even more.
Slice works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Basayev is still on wobbly legs! Can Slice finish him?
Basayev looks winded!
Slice has a couple of punches blocked by Basayev.
Slice dips a shoulder and cracks Basayev with a mighty uppercut! Basayev falls back against the cage and Slice unloads with a barrage of strikes! Basayev is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Slice screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kimbo Slice!
Kimbo Slice retains his heavyweight title!
