Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
35 - 19 - 3, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Beckett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Incheol Wonha! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beckett connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Wonha looks to clinch and Beckett counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wonha! Wonha struggling a bit here. Beckett creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Wonha sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Wonha takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sloppy strikes there by Beckett. Wonha has one of Beckett's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beckett works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Beckett throws a strike aimed at the side of Wonha's head but Wonha avoids it well. Wonha dodges the ground and pound from Beckett. Wonha is trying to improve his position. Beckett scores with punches from side control. Wonha sneaks back into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beckett wants to pass to mount but Wonha is defending the position. Beckett trying to control from Wonha's half guard. Wonha has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Wonha trying to control the position.
Wonha working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Beckett. Wonha wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beckett throwing strikes from guard but Wonha blocks nicely. Beckett throwing strikes but missing. Beckett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Beckett throws an off balance right hand
and Wonha counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That kick from Beckett tenderised Wonha's leg. Wonha is trying to keep his angry face on. Beckett gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wonha. Beckett chopping away at his opponent's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wonha checks a leg kick. A punch lands to the side of Beckett 's head but he takes it in his stride. Wonha closes the distance and clinches. Beckett escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Beckett lunges at Wonha with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wonha's hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wonha rushes Beckett and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Beckett blocks the elbow strike.
Beckett slowing the pace effectively. Wonha lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Beckett is trying to force a seperation but Wonha has the dominant position. With the fighters up against the cage, Wonha throws an elbow but misses. Beckett is trying to push Wonha away but Wonha has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Beckett wants to break the clinch but can't.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Beckett dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Wonha fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Beckett. Wonha lands a lovely overhand right. Wonha connects with a solid leg kick. Wonha throws a body shot but no joy. Nice cross by Beckett. Incheol Wonha seems to be getting the better of the standup. Wonha jabbing away but nothing is landing. Beckett tries to counter with a takedown but Wonha is quick to defend against it. Wonha throws a body punch but Beckett moves out of range. Beckett ducks down and throws a hook to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wonha closes the distance and clinches. Wonha prevents Beckett from breaking the clinch. Beckett wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Beckett wants to break free but Wonha has control.

Wonha misses with an elbow over the top. Wonha has Beckett pressed against the cage, preventing Beckett from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Beckett pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Wonha throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Beckett tries to keep at a distance but Wonha has taken the fight into the clinch. Wonha leaning his opponent against the cage. Wonha lands an uppercut. Wonha landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Wonha lands a nice elbow from the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wonha.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beckett on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Beckett wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wonha has him pressed against the cage. Beckett tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wonha comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. This has been an exciting period of action! Wonha is stalling here.
Beckett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Incheol Wonha is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wonha misses with a looping right. Wonha with a nice cross. Beckett moves out of range of the strikes. Wonha throws a sloppy head kick and Beckett moves out of range easily. Wonha lands a really nice looking cross but Beckett seems unphased.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beckett fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wonha avoids it really well and circles away. Beckett throws a right hand that misses
and Wonha counters with a right hand to the body. Beckett keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wonha. Wonha has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Wonha tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Beckett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Beckett appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Beckett misses the shot to the body. Wonha punishes Beckett's body with a nice straight punch. Beckett pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Wonha looks like he wants to counter punch here. Beckett pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wonha scores with a hook. Wonha uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Beckett. Wonha tries to close the distance and clinch but Beckett swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Wonha dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jim Beckett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beckett cracks Wonha with an open hand slap. This has been an exciting period of action! Beckett displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wonha throws out the jab. Wonha throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Wonha feints a counter leg kick. Sloppy strikes from Beckett. Those never looked like landing. Wonha has taken the fight to the clinch.

Incheol Wonha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Beckett fails miserably with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beckett takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Wonha tries to clinch but Beckett moves away and Beckett counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wonha!
That's one minute gone in the round. Beckett looks up at the clock and then as Wonha takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Beckett smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Beckett working away. Beckett misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Wonha tries to bench press Beckett off him but Beckett keeps the position. Wonha is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wonha is not content to let Beckett control the position. Beckett prevents Wonha from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wonha is looking to control Beckett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wonha avoid being mounted? Beckett works his way into side control. Jim Beckett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. You can see the frustration on Wonha's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Beckett throws a strike aimed at the side of Wonha's head but Wonha avoids it well. Wonha is trying to get back to half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Wonha avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Beckett throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Wonha crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Beckett - the referee stops the clock and Wonha gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Beckett. Wonha manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Wonha lands with a straight right. Beckett didn't see that one coming. Beckett tries a head kick but it misses.
Wonha has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Wonha moves in looking to clinch but Beckett pushes him off. Wonha uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Beckett. A little jabbing left from Wonha on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beckett throws a lazy uppercut
and Wonha counters with a lovely shot to the body. Beckett scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Wonha misses with a wild body shot. Beckett half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Wonha throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Wonha scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Wonha tries to score with a low kick but Beckett moves his leg out of the way. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wonha defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Beckett. Wonha tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Beckett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wonha throws a body punch but Beckett moves out of range. Beckett half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Beckett missing with a left hand there. Wonha was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jim Beckett. I think Beckett has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
