Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clarence McGee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ashton Eaton! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGee thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Eaton if he has to take too many more of those.
Eaton tries for a takedown but McGee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. And McGee counters with a quick kick to the body but Eaton blocks it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Eaton is defended easily by McGee. McGee is looking to counter the offense by Eaton and move into the clinch. Eaton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGee but McGee pushes him off and we're back to square one. Clarence McGee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ashton Eaton. Eaton dips to his left and cracks McGee with an uppercut! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGee throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. McGee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eaton swats him away and circles back towards the center. Eaton keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eaton moves out of range of the leg kick from McGee. McGee finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Good leg kick by McGee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Eaton has his takedown stuffed and McGee counters with a leg kick. McGee lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Ashton Eaton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Eaton fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McGee tried to counter with a leg kick but Eaton avoided it. Eaton with a poor takedown and McGee counters with an outside leg kick.
Eaton fails miserably with a takedown attempt. McGee throws a nice inside leg kick. Eaton scores with a head kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McGee pivots, looking for a leg kick but Eaton is out of range and McGee settles back down. Eaton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McGee's half guard. McGee slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGee lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

McGee is stalling in the full guard. McGee continues to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Eaton looking to control.
Eaton has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McGee can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Eaton looking to control but McGee passes into half guard.
McGee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Eaton wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eaton tries to throw a body punch but McGee avoids it by throwing Eaton back against the cage. Eaton misses with a short punch on the inside. McGee looks to throw an elbow but misses. McGee lands a knee to the body.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Eaton. A shot in the inside from Eaton. McGee lands a nice elbow. McGee creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Eaton's defenses. Eaton struggles to land a body shot inside as McGee controls his hands.

I was talking to McGee's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A right hook to the body lands for Eaton.

Eaton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGee walks away with a smile on his face. Eaton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Clarence McGee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ashton Eaton. Eaton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McGee avoids it really well and circles away. As Eaton backs away, McGee returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Eaton misses with a combination

Clarence McGee dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Eaton closes this distance looking for a takedown but McGee circles away. McGee throws a big counter combination but Eaton scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Eaton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Eaton is working McGee over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Eaton drops back, looking for a kneebar! McGee looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McGee looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McGee! McGee gets to mount! Eaton was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. McGee looking to control and managing it successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Eaton working to try and regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. McGee's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Eaton is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Eaton wants to control but McGee is having none of it. Eaton is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Eaton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. McGee controlling the position easily from mount. Eaton tries to hold on but McGee postures up. McGee controlling from the full mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eaton tries to lock up and control but McGee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. McGee controlling his opponent. More hug and hope from McGee. Eaton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. McGee controlling the position easily from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Eaton regains half guard. Eaton trying to control here.
Eaton looking for submissions off his back. Ashton Eaton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Eaton with the active half guard here but McGee passes nicely into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Clarence McGee showed his dominance in that final round. Well McGee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Clarence McGee! After the fight, Clarence McGee was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
