PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Richard Harrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christer Pettersson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pettersson has chosen Korn - Did My Time as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Christer Pettersson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Harrow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christer Pettersson!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harrow waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pettersson.
Harrow throws a body kick that misses
and Pettersson counters with a left to the body.
Pettersson lands with a hook. Harrow tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.


It looks like Richard Harrow has been cut.
Pettersson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harrow swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pettersson tests Harrow's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pettersson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pettersson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Harrow.
Pettersson misses with a left hand
and Harrow counters with a body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harrow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pettersson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pettersson! But no joy.
Harrow connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Harrow throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Harrow misses with a double jab.
Sloppy strikes from Pettersson. Those never looked like landing.
Harrow missing with a left hand there. Pettersson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Pettersson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Harrow does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harrow throws a leg kick but Pettersson checks it.
Pettersson keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Pettersson ducks under a wild hook from Harrow.
Pettersson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Harrow tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Harrow throws a leg kick

and Pettersson counters with a head kick that drops Harrow to the mat! Harrow scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pettersson lands a slapping body shot.
Harrow misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Pettersson counters with a straight right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pettersson lands a jab to the head.
Harrow jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Harrow misses with an uppercut.
Pettersson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Harrow is breathing heavily.
Pettersson looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Pettersson backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Harrow's temple! It sends Harrow violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Pettersson celebrates and the doctors try to help Harrow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Christer Pettersson!
After the fight, Christer Pettersson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
