Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeremy Sullivan! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Aguilar! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sullivan rushes Aguilar and presses him up against the cage. A short right from Aguilar. Aguilar pushes Sullivan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Sullivan stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Aguilar working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Aguilar breaks from the clinch.
Sullivan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Aguilar! Sullivan landing a few strikes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sullivan cracks Aguilar with an elbow. That is naaassty. Aguilar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sullivan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Aguilar is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Aguilar taking a bit of punishment here - Sullivan scoring with strikes. Sullivan landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Sullivan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sullivan scoring with punches from side control. Aguilar manages to get back to half guard. Sullivan lands strikes from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aguilar taking some punishment here, with Sullivan in his half guard.
Aguilar is rocked! Sullivan passes the guard and advances to mount! Aguilar is still in real trouble! Can Sullivan finish him?
That's one minute gone in the round. Sullivan softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Aguilar is out cold! Sullivan jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy Sullivan! Jeremy Sullivan is the new middleweight champion! After winning the bout, Jeremy Sullivan thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
