Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson's entrance music is Ave Maria. A fine choice. Matt Hughes has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sparky Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anderson throws a solid leg kick but Hughes takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Anderson. Anderson looks to land a left hand but Hughes moved out of range nicely. Hughes swings away with a leg kick that misses. Hughes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Anderson circles away quickly and effectively. Anderson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hughes has time to react. Anderson avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson connects with a crisp jab. Hughes lands with a nice body punch. Anderson swings for the body but Hughes moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson just misses with a punch to the body.
Hughes checks a low kick from Anderson. Anderson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hughes. That did some damage! Anderson lands a glancing blow to the side of Hughes's head. Hughes walks into a jab. Anderson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Anderson lands a head shot. Sparky Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Hughes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hughes changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Anderson lands a nice shot that snaps Hughes's head back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes moves out of range as Anderson strikes. Anderson chopping away at his opponent's legs.
This has been an exciting period of action! Anderson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Anderson slips a jab from Hughes. Anderson cracks a nice hook into Hughes's ribs. Anderson scores with a punch to the head. Hughes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Anderson can pounce on him.
Nice cross by Anderson. Anderson misses with a looping right. Hughes tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson shoots in and bounces Hughes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hughes is rocked! Anderson advances to half guard. Hughes is still in real trouble! Can Anderson finish him? Anderson controlling the action here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes seems to have recovered his senses. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Anderson lands a nice short elbow. Hughes regains full guard. Nicely done. Hughes wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Anderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Anderson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anderson's guard. Hughes trying to control but Anderson is working from the bottom. Hughes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hughes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hughes stopping the sweep attempt from Anderson. Hughes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Anderson trying to control the position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sparky Anderson dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Anderson lands a jab to the nose. Anderson defending well as Hughes loads up on a big left hand. Anderson is looking to clinch but Hughes is avoiding it.
Hughes fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Anderson circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Hughes to the canvas! Hughes doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Anderson keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sparky Anderson! Post fight, Sparky Anderson took to the microphone: 'You know we took this fight on 2 day's notice, now I'm putting the division on notice... I'm coming boys.'.
