Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Karter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Toshi Matoshin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Matoshin's choice of entrance music: Mortal Kombat theme. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 2, fighting out of New York, Chris Karter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Toshi Matoshin!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matoshin misses with an uppercut. Karter saw that one coming.
Karter throws a nice outside leg kick.
Karter fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Matoshin on the side of the head.
Karter connects with a right hand. Matoshin shakes it off.
Matoshin jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice body punch from Karter.
Karter lands with a thumping leg kick.

Matoshin moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Matoshin throws a head kick that misses.

Karter feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Matoshins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Matoshin throws a hook but Karter avoids it easily.
Karter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Matoshin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Karter.
Matoshin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Karter swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Matoshin bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Karter sizes up Matoshin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Karter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Matoshin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Karter scrambles back to his feet.

Karter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Karter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Matoshin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Karter manages to avoid it.
Karter was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Matoshin lands a jab to the nose.
Matoshin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Matoshin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Karter steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Matoshin.
Matoshin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Matoshin misses with a wild combination.
Karter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Karter fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Matoshin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Chris Karter will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Karter has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
